So, what's your MBTI personality type? SO, too.

Evil pun, yes, I know.

I was just checking out my MBTI personality type, and I happen to be an INTP. Strange thing is, my SO happens to be an ESFJ, which is TOTALLY opposite from what I’m supposed to be, and, well, we’re almost 2 years, and still going strong… (Minus a ear or so. But, um, I’m sure they grow back, right? ouchouchouchthathurts) So, I was just wondering if opposites really attract, or if birds of a feather flock together.

So, what’s your MBTI type? SO, too.

Me: INTP
SO: ESFJ

Disclaimer: Yes, I know that the test is supposed to be given professionally under controlled conditions, and that the test isn’t really validated etcetcetc. In any case, it’s fun to see if it really describes you! And, IMHO, mine does, but SO says her description isn’t so hot. Hm.

I hate these yes or no tests. Most of the time I fit into both. Or it needs a ‘depends if’.
I got mind-numbingly bored at q31. Sorry.

INTJ. The “Master-mind,” ehehe. The profiles I’ve read fit me pretty well. It’s supposed to be one of the least common types (1% of US population?), but for some reason it seems like a quarter of the people on message boards where the question’s been asked have been INTJs. The E’s are probably out somewhere instead of at home

I am ENFJ

A-HA… Now your unintentional Grandpa post makes much more sense.

The Idealists called Teachers are abstract in their thought and speech, cooperative in their style of achieving goals, and directive and extraverted in their interpersonal relations. Learning in the young has to be beckoned forth, teased out from its hiding place, or, as suggested by the word “education,” it has to be “educed.” by an individual with educative capabilities. Such a one is the eNFj, thus rightly called the educative mentor or Teacher for short. The Teacher is especially capable of educing or calling forth those inner potentials each learner possesses. Even as children the Teachers may attract a gathering of other children ready to follow their lead in play or work. And they lead without seeming to do so.

Teachers expect the very best of those around them, and this expectation, usually expressed as enthusiastic encouragement, motivates action in others and the desire to live up to their expectations. Teachers have the charming characteristic of taking for granted that their expectations will be met, their implicit commands obeyed, never doubting that people will want to do what they suggest. And, more often than not, people do, because this type has extraordinary charisma.

The Teachers are found in no more than 2 or 3 percent of the population. They like to have things settled and arranged. They prefer to plan both work and social engagements ahead of time and tend to be absolutely reliable in honoring these commitments. At the same time, Teachers are very much at home in complex situations which require the juggling of much data with little pre-planning. An experienced Teacher group leader can dream up, effortlessly, and almost endlessly, activities for groups to engage in, and stimulating roles for members of the group to play. In some Teachers, inspired by the responsiveness of their students or followers, this can amount to genius which other types find hard to emulate. Such ability to preside without planning reminds us somewhat of an Provider, but the latter acts more as a master of ceremonies than as a leader of groups. Providers are natural hosts and hostesses, making sure that each guest is well looked after at social gatherings, or that the right things are expressed on traditional occasions, such as weddings, funerals, graduations, and the like. In much the same way, Teachers value harmonious human relations about all else, can handle people with charm and concern, and are usually popular wherever they are. But Teachers are not so much social as educational leaders, interested primarily in the personal growth and development of others, and less in attending to their social needs.

But I can’t say that the description fits me particularly well. And I must admit that several times I said “WTF, just pick one” because the question didn’t make sense, or the answer didn’t.

I would rate the description as closer but still off in several respects.

We have been married for 10+ years, with 4 pre-existing kids and 2 new (adopted) kids.

INTJ.

It’s been a while since I posted. Hello to everyone.

Somewhere between INTP and INTJ. I move between the two.

ISFJ Moderate in all four.

ENFP

Wait a few days and take the test again. After seeing the results you’ll feel like a whole new person.

The bad news is that your prospective employer will only administer the test once, and every trait that can be described nicely can also be described negatively:
“Problems that may arise from an INTP employee are…”
Your prospective employer will read “will,” not “may” He pays real money to have this test administered and he wants the ugly truth: smoke blown up his ass he can get from you for free

Another problem is the social bias (in a society where many an average person hasn’t heard that theories such as the Oedipus Complex or Repressed Traumatic Memories have been discredited). Here’s what your boss thinks:

Extrovert: Vince Lombardi (you damn well better perform like him)
Introvert: Ted Kaczynski (tells you they’ll keep your application on file. Has security follow you out)

(Overlooking those other twisted, maelvolent introverts, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Bobby Kennedy.)

In a lot of people’s opinion, Katharine Cook Briggs and daughter Isabel Briggs-Myers cooked this up based on their amaturish/opportunistic reading of Carl Jung, in the 1940’s (when the other “big thing” in psychology was pre-frontal lobotomy). Of course it’s been refined since then, but mostly by a professional sub-class who’s found an even easier way of exploiting corporate gullibility than those motivational speakers and team-building workshoppers who prowl the corporate landscape. Unlike them, the M/B mavens don’t even have to leave their offices.

I always test out as ISTJ.

Hey, the world needs bank examiners and accountants, right? Unfortunately, I’m neither.

I’m supposed to be job hunting; I should not do this.

I have successfully convinced myself that this will help me in my job hunt.

I’ll have to try out the link provided later to see if my result is still the same, but I took one of these Meyers-Briggs tests at work a while back. I’m an INTJ. Weakest correspondence on the E/I, oddly. I consider myself a strong Introvert, but the test doesn’t. I think I maxed out T.

I’m INFJ. Boyfriend is INTJ. I’m a CS major. He’s a musician. Go figure.

First problem: this does not take into account physical traits such as allergies and poor balance.

A lot of these questions are very age-sensitive.

I’ve notice several questions that I suspect are supposed to be answered the same way, but that are not really the same question.
For example, in my work problem solving should be done along fairly standard lines, but after that experimentation to improve the method is important. Cooking is the same. I’m going to come out psychotic.

What does “You feel that the world is founded on compassion” MEAN?

“Strict observance of the established rules is likely to prevent attaining a good outcome” as got to be the most situation-dependent question I’ve very heard.

Scoring: Counselor (iNFj)
wow, this could not be more wrong.
Ethics are important to me, and while I do like to contribute to the welfare of others, my preferred method is writing a check.
If I am empathetic, this world is in more trouble than I thought.
Well, I guess it could be more wrong.

What does Butt have to say?
I do love the concept of poetic justice.
I am selective about my friends.
I cannot think of two professions to which I am less suited that counselling and politics.

Either this is complete trash, or I misunderstood the questions.

So I changed the empathy questions (although I do empathize if someone explains their concerns), and …

that’s even worse.

I’ve always tested INFP every time and it does fit me, I guess. I certainly don’t view my writing as particularly good or poetic, but I’m not exactly the best judge of my own strengths or weaknesses.
