So Whats your Theme Song?

Magic Carpet Ride, by Steppenwolf.

“Don’t Look Back” - Boston

I heard it on the radio three times in two days after a heart-breaking break-up with my collage GF. I play it whenever I feel the need to be inspired or when I’m in a rut.

“Runnin’ With The Devil” by Van Halen.

Naaaah! Just jokin’!

Probably “All or Nothing At All” (jazz standard-don’t know who wrote it)

or another of my fav’s:

Rhapsody in Blue - by the incomparable George Gershwin. I’ve liked this one since I was a kid. Sensual, energetic, frenetic music. Yup, that’s me.

That would be a certain song by Rush: Cold Fire. Duh
There are probably 50 better songs I could name right now, but this one (especially the gripping opening cords and smooth flow-of-music following them, if y’all know what I mean) sure would do great accompanying me as a boxer enetering the ring, or something along those lines.
Strange, I never had any boxing ambitions before

Coldfire
(see quote below - it took us 5 million years of evolutiond and 3000 years of modern western civilization to finally grab the essence of the fabric of life in SIX DAMN WORDS. And it’s all true.)

Dont flame me for this, ladies… please

“You know how complex women are”

  • Neil Peart, Rush (1993)

“Sixty Minute Man,” by Billy Ward and his Dominoes. Or possibly the “Young Fresh Fellows Theme” by the Young Fresh Fellows.

Uke

“Party out of Bounds” by the B-52’s…

Rennaisance Period, “If My Complaints Could Passions Move” by J. Dowland (played this piece before college)

Classical Period, “Melancholia” by M. Giuiani
(played it my junior year in college)

Romantic/Twentieth Century Period, “Concerto for Guitar and Small Orchestra” H. Villa-Lobos (played it my senior year in college) I know Villa-Lobos is not a Romantic composer but so much of his music takes from that period.

Folk Music, “Turkey in the Straw” (instrumental version) traditional, when I am in a goofy mood, “Lady Isabella and the Elf Knight” traditional when I am in a morbid mood, and “Moonshiner” or “Shady Grove” traditional, when I am in a good mood.

Pop Music, “Love Song” by the Cure

“People’s Poet don’t die, we’ll kill ourselves if you do, but first we’ll take off all our clothes.” The Young Ones

Flirtin’ with Disaster - Molly Hatchet

Auraseer - IMHO, the Mother’s Finest cover of Magic Carpet Ride is far and away the best. Ever heard it?

The overwhelming majority of people have more than the average (mean) number of legs. – E. Grebenik

“This little light of mine–
I’m gonna let it shine…”

Was it something I said??? :frowning:

Ooooopsie! Disregard that last post, folks—has nothing to do with anything. It’s late, and the old brain is not working with me, here. Sorry about that, campers! Please continue.

Well, ever since I arrived at college, it’s been “Right Place, Wrong Time” by Dr. John (although I really like the cover by Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies better).

My theme song, when I’m feeling like Lassie fucked the cantaloupe (you know, melancholy), is Billy Strayhorn’s immortal “Lush Life.” Natalie Cole did it on her “Unforgettable” album, but in my opinion the tie for best version is:
(instrumental) John Coltrane, on the album “Lush Life”
(vocal) Johnny Hartman, on the album “Johnny Hartman and John Coltrane”

When I’m in a more bouncy mood but still a dark one, it’s “Dead Man’s Party” by Oingo Boingo.

When I’m cooking, it’s “Soul Food to Go” by Manhattan Transfer.

I’ve Got “It” But “It” Don’t Do Me No Good

I’m surprised nobody else has taken this one, so I will: “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks. Yeah, it was overplayed for a while, but the lyrics are great.

*You’re so good to me I know
but I can’t change
Tried to tell you
but you look at me like
maybe there’s an angel underneath
innocent and sweet

Yesterday I cried
It must have been a relief
to see the softer side
I can understand how you’d be so confused
I don’t envy you
I’m a little bit of everything
All rolled into one

I’m a bitch, I’m a lover
I’m a child, I’m a mother
I’m a sinner, I’m a saint
I do not feel ashamed

I’m your help, I’m your dream
I’m nothing in between
You know you wouldn’t want it any other way

etc.*

I’ve never found a song that so accurately describes my frustrations with relationships. And it’s got a catchy tune, too!

I’ve had recommended…

“Ain’t Neccessarily So.”

I would like…

“Linus and Lucy” from the Peanuts specials (it’s the one where they dance.)

The reason gentlemen prefer blondes is that there are not enough redheads to go around.

At this moment, my theme song would have to be, “Stormy Blues” by Billie Holiday.

The “Theme from Robotech” by Ulpino Minuchi

We have met the enemy, and He is Us.–Walt Kelly

Eris, I’m pretty sure the lyrics were “I’m your hell, I’m your dream…”, and not help. I thought I’d post this because it didn’t seem like a typo.

If there’s a male equivalent for this song, I think it would be, “I’m an Asshole.” It was some obscure song, really funny, but I forget the artist.

My theme song still stands: “One bourbon, one scotch, one beer.” – George Thoroughgood.

One beer is less than two beers.

Theme song for Indiana Jones.
