So where's the TAR10 thread?

Do I have to do everything *myself * around here? Here it is, premiere night for the next The Amazing Race season, less than a half hour away in the eastern US, and there’s no damn thread up yet! Come on now, people, let’s shape up a little bit and at least ogle the cheerleaders a little, shall we?

Sorry, ElvisL1ves. I often start these threads, but I was dealing with Family Drama and also Fantasy Football Fiascoes all day today, and this is the first I’ve been around since this morning. I promise to try to do better next week. Well, I can’t promise to try, but I can promise to try to try.

Interesting.
A lesbian, for one thing. Has there ever been an openly gay woman on TAR before? I don’t think so.

Phil is promising surprises! Hee! I love surprises!

Cheerleaders and beauty queens.

Sigh.

I miss Kevin and Drew.

“thrifty is a rental car place? am I supposed to know that?”

Seems kind of like general knowledge type stuff to me, maybe even too general to really count as knowledge. 'Course, people keep telling me I’ve got a really impressive sounding job, so maybe I’m just biased. And I’m pretty sure there’s been at least one more eyeroll worthy comment from someone. And that was before they got to the airport.

Sending the teams to China first seems to be kind of dumping them in at the deep end.

I’m not so keen on this first Roadblock.

OH HELL

It conflicts with Family Guy and The Simpsons. We have but one Tivo. I wonder if it’ll be On Demand.

Damn it all to hell. It’s not On Demand and I’ve missed the first half-hour of it. Can we get a recap, please?

Dude!
When he said, “We have no control over what the Creator does”, do you suppose he was talking about Bertram Van Munster?

All I could think about was how, in recent years, contestants would talk about the vomiting that followed the food tasks. I can not imagine throe=wing up a bunch of eyeballs. Eeeew.

Ah, hell. That would be throwing up.

So, here I am concentrating on putting papers in alphabetical order, when I think I hear Phil’s voice. So I look up, see Phil’s face, and hear him say “You were the last team to arrive, even though this was not officially a Pit Stop, you have both been eliminated from this race”, and I take a good look at who just got eliminated and I can’t decide whether I’m just as happy not to see them stick around (see lorene’s post for why, or whether I’m missing out on something by having them gone. I was kind of looking forward to seeing the Muslim team pray on street corners around the world, but I guess not.

The cheerleaders or beauty queens would have made me much less ambivalent.

The short version: Twelve teams. Phil promised us surprises. Eyebrow pop. Seattle to Beijing. A Chinese restaurant that nobody’s ever heard of. Roadblock. Fish eyeballs. No flotillas or chinchillas.

Surprise: last team to arrive at the place they went to after the fish eyes was eliminated.

Oh! I’m so sad that they were eliminated! They seemed so nice.

I hate Kentucky already. Oh my gosh, I just want to punch them. That’s not very nice, is it?

I like Kentucky. She doesn’t atke any crap from him.

I don’t like the Single Moms. Bitchy.

Hey! The Muslim guys were from Cleveland. That’s punishment enough.
I’m not sure I like Phil’s little surprises for the season!

And I kinda like the Kentucky couple.

I don’t like the Bionic couple! At all!

My favorites are the WIN brothers: Godwin and Erwin, but so for they aren’t showing me much.

Was I imagining this, or did Team Kentucky actually go “quack, quack” to their taxi driver in Beijing? And did anyone else have a Team Guido flashback when they introduced this season’s “We’re gay and we’re not here to make any friends” duo?

The ex-junkie/models are some delicious eye-candy, huh?

I like them to win even if it is too early to tell anything. I also like the triathletes. And the Korean brothers.

That wall climbing looked tough.

I’m personally rooting for Team Triathletes, and ogling Teams Cheerleaders and Beauty Queens.

The sudden mid-leg elimination was moderately annoying, it didn’t give us a chance to form any real opinion about Team Muslims From Cleveland. I agree with Eureka, I wanted to see them stop and pray mid-activity, just for the drama.

I’m expecting that future surprises may include “leapfrogging” – I thought that this first surprise would have the last team to arrive depart at 6:45, ahead of all the other teams.

Who’s doing the Raj Ratings for this season?

I already can’t stand Rob and Kimberly. He reminds me of the love child of Jonathan and Duke (from last season) and she reminds me WAY too much of Kendra.

Did anyone notice the cheerleaders at the airport, after meeting Balil and Sa’eed? “Do Muslims believe in Buddha?” :eyeroll:

I don’t like them, either. I like Erwin and Godwin, and Peter and Sarah.
