In one “What If” comic, Steve Rodgers ended up getting married to Jessica Jones (who in mainstream continuity is married to Luke Cage).
Actually it tends to end with the normal person being killed off by the enemies of the hero. I think the SO of a hero should be another super; ideally one with intrinsic powers so that even if ambushed without equipment they can fight back effectively.
Minion: "Uh, boss, you know how you sent me and some of the guys to off Captian America’s girlfriend? "
Evil Mastermind: “Yes?”
Minion: “It…didn’t go well.” <hands Evil Mastermind a bucket>
Evil Mastermind: “What’s this?”
Minion: “The rest of the team.”
