So, who won the freaking election already?

MSNBC reports that absentee ballots have already been included in the current tally. The only thing outstanding are the provisional ballots.

Democrat wins DeLay’s congressional seat over write-in candidate

Thanks for running in the primary Tom; and a tip of the hat to the Libertarian candidate too.

Duckworth lost… a little sad for her.

Well, look who is now ahead in Missouri. Maybe the Democrats are going to take the Senate.

Democratic McCaskill
813,003 49%

Republican Talent
799,007 48%

Looks like a 50-50 Senate to me. VA is on the fast track to a recount. MT is looking good for the Dems, MO looks like it stays in the GOP fold.

The stranglehold on power has been broken. This has to be a good thing. I hope the Dems have learned something in the 12 years out of power and use it wisely. They must strike a balance- move forward on their ideas and use their subpoena and investigative powers sparingly and not appear to be vindictive. I think Pelosi can do it.

Class moment of the night was Santorum’s concession speech. Very nice.

As I said in the “Webb is toast” thread, I think counting in VA has stopped for the evening. Here’s what’s still out there:

Fairfax County: 1 precinct still out, and according to MSNBC it’s Webb Country and worth 33K votes.

Arlington County: 1 precinct still out. Not sure how many votes, but it’s Webb-heavy.

Richmond City: 4 precincts still out, also favors Webb by 3:1

Absentee ballots have been counted, only provisionals are outstanding.

Webb is claiming victory. The recount may decide control of the Senate…

Nah, McCaskill will decide.

And McCaskill pulls ahead!!!

Democratic McCaskill	813,003 49%

Republican Talent 799,007 48%

As I predicted on the last page, she did, indeed, stampede over him in Jackson county (64%/33%). Still too close to call, of course, but St. Louis County is still only a little more than 50% reporting and she’s way ahead of him there, too (54%/44%), so it’s looking pretty damn good!

oh baby oh yeah… can it be? izzit possible?

Go you brave little stemcells! C’mon McCaskill! Show Me State indeedy!

Let’s say there are an additional 50,000 votes out there (loosely based on what Patty O’Furniture said), for a total of about 2,360,000. If Webb can get 2/3 of that, that’d be about 33,000, for a total vote amount of 1,176,000 for Webb and 1,158,000 for Allen. I think that’s a 1.5% differential, enough to avoid the free recount.

But it’s 11:15 here and I’m pulling numbers out of my head.

Webb seems to have the lead, headed into the recount. A Democratic majority in the Senate really is possible - and as a young Democrat, I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel about all this.

I’d say it is now moving from “possible” to “more likely than not”.

I’m not even a Democrat per se but I damn well know how to feel about this.

Missouri looks to be going Dem (Senate)

FoxNews is saying it looks like MO & MT may go Dem. Don’t think it’s a formal projection at this point, but their analyst says that what he expects…

All warm and tingly?

Is McCaskill delaring victory or was her campaign guy just being overly optimistic?

McCaskill is claiming victory in MO…

Looks like Macaca might have cost the Pubs the Senate. Buh-bye presidential aspirations!

Wow, this is huge. Let the '08 presidential campaing begin!!

Looks as if they started counting again in VA. 1,148,789 Webb to 1,142,997 for Allen.

Guess it’ll be a recount in any event.
