Whooa. Take a deep breath and calm done buddy. Now I have never even played the game but a 30 second search on the official star wars galaxy webpage turned this up

Yeah, and not just for the obvious reasons. It seems to be a better MMORPG than a Star Wars game. It just feels like an RPG with a bunch of well-designed game systems (the skill system, the class system, the waypoint UI, etc.) that just happens to have a lot of familiar stuff from Star Wars.
But when I was 9 and watching The Empire Strikes Back, I never pointed at the guy who told Han Solo that he couldn’t take a tauntaun out because it was too cold and he’d freeze to death and thought, “Someday I want to be him!” I wanted to be Han Solo.
That’s not a criticism of Galaxies, either; it’s the nature of the game. To their credit, they realized that if everybody could be a Jedi or that everybody could be The Best Smuggler Pilot In the Galaxy, it’d get boring. So they found a way to make “Tauntaun Wrangler” fairly interesting.
I started playing it a few days ago and I’m really unimpressed. It’s got just about the least intuitive interface I’ve ever seen. The tradeskills and skill trees are cool, but it seems a lot like Anarchy Online, which I quit playing because it was so boring.
Suits me. I’d like a more AO-ish mission system, especially if it gave items and experience like AO, but it’s only been out a few days.
Now, if Starsider would just stay up more than a minute…

Well, I just started an Entertainer on Scylla… seeing as Starsider is, once again, down. As is Bloodfin. So far, I have:

Is it just me, or are their East Coast servers having some serious issues? I’d make more characters, but I love my Starsider one and would hate to start over.

You know what impressed me most? I was cruising around Mos Eisley, doing some missions, and I heard this horrendous noise from my speakers. Like a wooshing sound. I checked my speakers. I checked Windows…nothing. And then the viewing distance got pretty small and I realized…

And to further the hijack, “clean up after your wookies” is about the funniest damn thing I’ve read in a while…

Well, since the majority of Doper reviews tend to say, “The game is good enough to keep playing,” and my friend that has it basically says, “It’s alright, has some system issues, but is very addictive,” I may just have to purchase this sucker. Now I just need a job…
Anyway, I’ll update here if I do get it, in which case I’ll promptly take myself to Scylla to help form whatever Doper habitat is being construed.
