Right now it’s ~9:20pm on the West Coast, who’s online right now?
Describe why you’re online on Easter.
I am here…bored, not feeling well and can’t sleep. 12:22am on east coast.
It’s 12:32 AM and I’ve been here all day, working on audio projects and reading the Dope.
Me. 12:30, and I took a nap this afternoon, so of course now I’m not sleepy. I’ll try to get to bed at 1 I think.
I’m listening to “Amigos Para Siempre” from one of the Andrew Lloyd Webber albums, just FYI. Sarah Brightman’s voice really rocks. And checking out Hot or Not, remarkably for the first time ever.
Uh…because I’m a Jew.
Oh yeah. Cause I’m atheist.
First time ever?!
I remember my firsts ganders there.
Ever notice how many guys take their pictures with their cars?
Oh yeah, it was my day off.
I’m “home home” with the 'rents. Ate Easter dinner at a local banquet hall, came home, watched the Sopranos, Mom and Dad went to bed, and now there’s nothing to do except surf. I’m a bit more nocturnal than they are.
Easter isn’t a big holiday around the house. Dad is Jewish, and I’m converting.
Oh yeah. And the baseball caps. I hate baseball caps. I really hate backwards baseball caps.
Hee, just now I noticed a pic with some guy on a donkey!
Easter isn’t big at my house, either. My wife and I and practicing atheists. Mostly we view Easter as an excuse to spend time with our families.
Unfortunately, my wife’s family is snowed in in Reno, NV. Mine is here in the San Jose suburbs.
12:52 am here in Ohio, and I’ve just finished watching two episodes of Doctor Who. I’ve taken two naps today (not counting the ones I took during the sermons at both services this morning) and my son is out with the car, so I’m not ready to sleep just yet. And I don’t have to be in to work until 11 am, so I can sleep in a bit. We did nothing special for the holiday…my brother didn’t even invite us over for dinner, and my daughter went to dinner at her sister-in-law-to-be’s house, so I grilled hamburgers and read and napped with the cats and read the Dope. Just now starting to yawn a bit.
My family used to do the big Easter thing when I was a kid-just like Christmas, we’d get our baskets with presents and go to my cousins or something, but since my sister and I grew up, we’ve been doing the nice, quiet time at home. Today we went out to eat and then came home and sat around.
I’m online because it’s 3:00pm AEST on Monday, April 17th… in other words, Not Easter.
It is, however, a public holiday, and therefore a day off!
I love the Internet.
Congratulations on having an extra day off that we Yanks don’t get.
The theory behind it is that since Easter is a Sunday, and Sunday is supposed to be a Day Off for most people anyway, it wouldn’t be fair to say “Sorry, you used your Easter Sunday Public Holiday on a day you had off anyway!”, so everyone can have Monday off (and therefore have an uber-long weekend… Most people get Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday off) to make up for the fact Easter Sunday happens to be on, well, a Sunday!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a cold, cold beer sitting in the fridge just waiting for me to drink it as I sit in front of my PC…
That reminds me… I have some more Captain & Coke to drink.
10:36 pm on the west coast… Easter is only vaguely celebrated in this household. Mostly for the chocolate eggs. I also made a wee ham. Because ham is delicious in any size.
I’m online because I’m playing Everquest 2 with my husband. We’re insufferable geeks. I tend to keep a browser open in the background so I can browse around and do other things when there’s some downtime. Like when he has to go pee. Only wusses pee. I’m hardcore.

Well, you certainly created a very small window of opportunity for people to answer your question. Anyway, here in Boston it is Monday, 2:00 a.m. but I was online on Easter. I’d say there were 2 reasons why:
-
I practically live on the Internet (though I do work a full time job). I was working on my own website, helping someone else with theirs and just surfing the 'Net in general (with many visits to the SDMB).
-
Easter was never a big holiday for me. Also, my religious inclinations are nil and I might as well say I’m an atheist.
Incidentally, I do have tomorrow off. It is “Patriots Day” which celebrates the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere. It is celebrated just in Suffolk County, Massachusetts and not all businesses close. (Luckily my employer does close).
Went to grocery store, found the last egg coloring kit. Colored eggs. Went to see Scary Movie 4. Went to Arby’s. Walked around enjoying the weather.
Listened to radio. Got online. Still up.
