And since it probably isn’t a copy-and-paste from 2013 --------------
Yup, I’ll be a proud '55er this year, to go along with my '99er status here. The former will see me officially vested in my pension (55 with 10 or more years of service) the latter will, um, do nothing.
I’m not One Of You – I’m eight years behind y’all – but FWIW I’ve always felt like the “x5” ages are kind of worth marking. Maybe it’s their “hump” nature: e.g., when I turned 45, I could no longer say that I was in my early 40s.
I’m clinging to “mid-40s” for as long as I can…
June 6th for me. Yay, Gemini!
At 55 you can ask for a seniors discount at Wendy’s.
I turned 55 on St. Patrick’s day!
I’ve been getting harassing letters from AARP (whoever said only young people and prisoners were pressured to join gangs was wrong) at the rate of about one a week for several months now. The odd thing is, that all my life I’ve looked a lot older than I am, but that dynamic seems to be slowing down now, and people tend to estimate my age increasingly accurately. At this rate, if I live to be 100, I could probably pass for 87 or 88!
54 today
3-31-63, so today! Lots of 3s in my life.
I have no idea how this 55 thing happened, either. I’m not sweatin’ the number, but it does seem more solidly middle age than 52 or 53.
I got into really good shape in 2015, it took an entire year and much dedication to policing every bite of food I put in my mouth, but I felt terrific. The 25 pounds I lost have crept back and the cardio endurance I gained has slipped away, so…
Birthday cake tonight, and back to my fitness regime tomorrow. My brand new FitBit Blaze I got for Christmas has been sitting on my wrist silently judging me, so time to show it what this 55 year old broad from Class of '81 is made of.
I’m a '99er. ![]()
Hello, my fellow 60-year-olds!

Am I the only one who thinks posting one’s birthday, on a publicly accessible platform, via an account that can be set to show lots of other personal data … maaaayyybe isn’t the best idea?
It’s not my actual birthday-I just thought of it because my best friend also turns 60 this year – but even if it were, how would that work? What could be done was just my birthday (and what other personal data could be gotten at)?
