I’ve never been one for marking age milestones - I mean really, 21 and 30 and so on went by barely-remarked - but 55 feels like something a little special, even though it really isn’t. Sure, now I can move into 55+ communities (woo hoo!), but otherwise I’m not sure why it’s sticking out for me. Maybe because it’s the earliest age where my company pension vests?
In any case, 1963 Dopers feel free report in. 
My birthday is 12/23/63 so I am likely the youngest ‘63 Doper. I hadn’t thought much about it because my last birthday was so recent. Do we really get senior discounts?

Not me, but I recently turned 59 1/2. So now I can take money *out *of my IRA if I wanted to! Woo hoo!!
I passed it so long ago, there was a dinosaur carcass laying across the milestone.

I lived in Santa Fe in my 30’s, San Diego in my 40’s, and now i’m back in Chicago . . I’ve got some kind of reverse retirement migration going on. . .oh, well

Before my last birthday, dirt was older than me.
Gack! I am in this group! 1963-08-08 (a very lucky birthday, if I was Chinese…)
Not until November thankfully.
However, when I went to see Black Panther, the ticket seller took one look at me and gave me a Senior Discount. First time that’s ever happened and I was not pleased. Guess I look old already. 
Coming up in October. But too busy skiing, hiking, and biking to notice.
Turned 55 on Feb 12th. Been married to the best woman ever for 20 years, I’m in better shape than I was at 20, I can retire early, and I recently asked my employer to cut my hours from 42/week to 35/week. They said yes. Next year, I’ll ask for 30 hours per week.
Life was a little sucky in my youth, but it’s sure going well now.

I’m not, but considering my join date was 11-04-2000, I’m wondering how many of you turning 55 this year were around here then? You would’ve been turning 37 instead of 55, and I’m sure it was a different world, then. It was for me; 46 now, about 28 then…
I joined in April of 2001 so not far off.
Turned 55 last summer. Still don’t think I’ve used a 55+ discount. Mostly never think of it.
