MTV had last season on yesterday - we watched some episodes to get all warmed up
I like the variety of dance styles that are accepted and this year appears to be pretty diverse also. BUT so help me if Benjie has another friggin sibling/cousin/stepbrother that makes it to the stage I may puke a little.
My favorite girl from last year was the one who got voted off for passing out during rehearsal or something.
My favorite guy was either Dominiq or Hawk.
For these talent shows or whatever I don’t really enjoy the first few episodes. There’s so many people that I can’t keep them straight on who I like, and I really don’t like watching other people make fools of themselves.
I’ve already got the DVR primed to go! And I agree that watching the auditions can be rough. I almost want to pass on those, but I’d hate to miss out on some of the ones we won’t get to see later but are really still quite good (like that clogging kid from last year).
However, since the previous season was my first, I’m worried I won’t love the dancers as much. I’m really going to miss my favorite, Neil. I just don’t know if others will compare…
Alright, who was watching tonight? Who did you all think stood out? Anyone want to see more of Jonathan, our Italian stallion? And how’d you like the judges being accused of racism against tall people?
I about lost it…
when Mia was thanking the sight-challenged girl for auditioning.
I was really glad to see a couple from before get through and wondered on another choice or two. But overall, I think they’re off to a pretty solid start. I’m looking forward to seeing them in Texas (mah home state pardners), but I ain’t sure I’m up for Mary’s braying yet. Oh, and Nigel cracks me up.
Beyond human popping there at the end. Alien indeed!!
It is cool how there are almost two shows. First the several nights of auditions which show some good dancers, and goofballs - and then the real show starts with the 20 finalists.
The guy who calls himself Sex was back for the third time and got about 10 minutes of airtime. He was as awful as ever, but obviously the producers of this show like to show him.
They also showcased a lot of auditions for dancers coming back for the second or third time. To do well in this show you must be able to do modern dance, ballroom, hip hop and have a big personality. Many of the dancers who are great in one style have been taking the time to broaden their repertoire.
This year there is going to be a Canadian version of SYTYKD. We are taking jive lessons and our instructor went for the auditions. He made it through to the second round, but said the level and quality of competition was fierce.
The last guy to audition was great. I wonder if he will be able to do any other styles? Sometimes I don’t think they do these dancers a favor by sending them straight to Vegas as the need all the practice with choreography they can get.
That girl soccer player: holy mother she was flippin’ gorgeous. Like, if I saw her on the street I’d probably say, “OMG she’s flipping gorgeous” but no way in hell would I have the courage to talk to her.
I can see why Dominiq had that big of a smile on his face.
Yeah, Soccer Girl was the hawt. The other blond, the one who auditioned in the black turtleneck sweater, I’m already tired of listening to her. Just shaddup.
I thought the Asian guy who did some amazing spins on his hands was great. He then went into the audience, sat down by Cat, and pretended he was watching himself. That was funny and took a lot of guts. To bad he did not make it past the choreograpy round. Again street performers with no formal training are going to have almost an impossible job doing formal dances against pros.
I think for real but delusional. When he started talking of all the formal dance training he has had and the prestigious places he has danced, well, it hasn’t happened. I started to feel kinda bad that we were making fun of a person major psychological issues.
The judge said that he had seen Sex try out of other TV shows as well.
