It was driving me crazy that they kept cutting the dancers that the show has focused on most this season. Now there will be a top 20 that we mostly have never seen before.
Evan’s brother- with the big floppy bowties- sort of creeps me out. I guess he’s a good dancer but there’s something about him that really irritates me.
I’m bummed they cut Natalie.
I love the Broadway Brothers – as a middle-aged fan of movie musicals who took up tap-dancing as an adult, they are right up my alley. Hope they both do well.
Wish we could have seen more of the group numbers – I think, believe it or not, that two hours was too short for the amt. of material they had. Wish they’d run another hour or Vegas week tonight and then done tonight’s show, whatever it is. (They can’t possibly be competing already, can they?)
The judges thought Natalie had to go because she didn’t bring the same skill and intensity to the tryout as she had during rehearsal. Frankly, I think the girl was just exhausted by that time.
Also, she isn’t as pretty or cameragenic as the dancers that got multiple chances.
The sad fact is that the dancers don’t realize they need to always hold something back. Don’t exhaust yourself showing off during rehearsals, just get the steps down. Only show off when you’re on stage in front of the judges. And if they cut you, ask to dance for your life and show them something new from your reserve bank.
The group assignment would make a fascinating exercise in team dynamics and group building. I would think it next-to-impossible to choreograph by group consensus. So if I was put in a group like that, I’d suggest that Step 1 would be to elect a choreographer and put them in charge.
I’m only watching this because the wife has it on, but this woman appears to have some kind of personality disorder, or she’s seriously playing up the bitch angle for the cameras. She said something like “I love to send people back home,” which strikes me as a really odd thing to say to folks who are in your finalist pool. As much grief as the AI judges get, it does seem that they’re trying to get the best out of the folks in Hollywood.
Maybe she’s using some bizarre Jedi mind trick motivational technique… it certainly doesn’t come across well. But maybe that’s par for the course in the dance world…
I know this is a tv show, so they do things for effect and not efficiency. But it seems strange to send people straight to Vegas based on one minute’s dancing for a multiple discipline show, and then send them home based on one more minute. I thought it was weird that they sent Natalie home because of one average performance as she had already shown her ability to dance many styles. But they see much more than we do in the short snippets of dance. Mia is a bitch. Being on TV does not mean you can leave all manners behind.
I’m curious as to the percentage of dancers in the Final 20 (in previous seasons, of course) who were sent straight through to Vegas…kind of as a validation of the judges’ initial impression. Is that kind of info available? If it was, I’m sure some obsessive/compulsive would’ve put it into Wikipedia by now.
Was it just my imagination, or did we have more guys than usual in tears during last night’s Vegas show?
Mia looks like she has really bad BO and a drinking problem.
I. Was. LIVID. That Natalie was sent home. I was even more angry later on when they gave Caitlyn the opportunity to dance for her life, and she got to stay! Why didn’t Natalie get to dance for her life?!?! To be fair, I did notice a difference between when Sonya had Brandon and Natalie dance for everyone, and when Natalie was with her given partner - something seemed off or lacking in her performance. But sweet zombie Jesus, she made it almost to the top 20 last year, obviously you know how good she is. How the hell could they cut her then? It was such bull!
Aaaaugghhh!!! pant pant pant
I’m far too emotionally invested in this show.
I’m right there with you. I was PISSED when they gave Natalie and Brandon such a hard time, then gave Gabi chance after chance after freakin’ chance. I was also pissed that they sent Son of Football Coach home.
Hate. Mia.
The preview showed The Broadway Brothers standing together and a voice saying
‘The choice has been made.’ I hope hope hope they don’t leave them til last, with only one being able to go through. Unless, of course, they pull the same BS that AI did with Anoop and… whoever the other guy was that was standing with him when they announced they were doing a top 13.
There did seem to be a lot more crying guys this year. Weird.
Argh – I was hoping you’d be wrong about this.
That’s just plain dickish when they do things like that. There is absolutely no reason to do that other than creating “drama.” Why would they put the brothers through that? I haven’t seen the episode yet, but at least I know that no matter who goes through the other will be very happy for him.
I was hoping Mia wouldn’t be on this season because they have those other chorographers( Rooster hair woman and that Popper guy)
They always have a huge variety of choreographers – they need a lot – 10 for the first week, 9 for the second … etc. … plus choreographers for group numbers, etc.
So she’ll be back as a choreographer a couple of times, plus possibly a judge once or twice.
Of course, I don’t hate her as much as some of you guys seem to, so I’m not freaking at the prospect.
I saw no real reason for her to be such a bitch to Brandon. She didn’t even clap when he got through.
Man, she was a nasty bitch to Brandon. I really don’t like that woman. I was hoping she and Mary would settle it in a cage fight, or something.
The Broadway Brothers are just a little too… familiar with each other.
You know what I marvel at? That y’all are so good at keeping everyone straight. I won’t start learning names for another month. (Other than Evan. I’m already rooting for Evan. And Tony.)
The person I was really sorry to see go was the ballet guy from Miami who couldn’t get out of his contract. He is an amazing dancer.
