Tony Miano is a creepy and sociopathic “Troo Christian” who spends his time deriding any and all who don’t follow his warped “Christian values”. This piece of fetid phlegm used to be a Ray Comfort employee, but is now a freelancing asshole that whines for WalMart giftcards to support his family, and personal trips to Norway. His activities include berating female patients at medical clinics, accosting folks in malls and transit stations, and recording these activities for posting on social media.
He also writes disjointed and bloated screeds on current issues, and now he’s attacking the recent interfaith service for the Boston bombings.
Feel the love oozing and dripping from this syphilitic schmuck:
I read it. Well, not the scripture-y bits; I skimmed over that. I found it fascinating, in an awful way. I would say it’s sad to be so full of hate, but I think he enjoys it.
His first section is some good stuff. It is a cut-and-paste collection of scriptural references on why God lets stuff happen, who is innocent, etc. Pretty good collection really.
Then he goes into the issue that a lot of fundie Christians have with interfaith services. When your faith says that you are the one true faith, and that the only way to salvation is through your God (and possibly only through your sect’s specific rules) - you have to put all of that in abeyance to do a joint interfaith service. He is a dick about it (especially when he then calls out those who will be speaking), but that is consistent with a lot churches. I deal with this in the Boy Scouts at times. We try to have “Scout’s Own” services on campouts to practice our faith. My Troop has Catholic, Baptist, Evangelical, Lutheran, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Shinto members. I have to rein in a few of the more fervent adults by reminding them that Reverent means we respect the faith of others while also practicing our own faith. Then again - that in itself is a contradiction to many.
There’s a point at which you have to either grant him his position or become an atheist. Either religion is true, or it isn’t. If you really believe in Methodism or Catholicism or Islam, then people who believe and do otherwise are in fact incredibly dangerous, basically tempting you into hell by advocating you cooperate with them. The idea of being a religious person who is tolerant of other religions doesn’t make sense if you really dig into it, it’s just an accepted bromide among people who want to have their cake and eat it too aka the liberal religious.
I’m reminded that people are quoted as saying of the first century church: “See how these Christians love one another!” Back then it wasn’t said with irony and eye-rolling.
