How can you do sock-shoe, sock-shoe? When I get the socks out, they’re rolled together. It’s easier to just put on the second sock after the first since it’s closer to hand. Or foot. If you do sock-shoe, then you’re adding steps by putting down the sock to pick up the shoe then picking the sock up again.
Tangentially, have you ever picked up a shoe and raised a foot to put it on, only to find that you have the wrong foot/shoe combination? Which do you do, pick up the other shoe or switch feet? I once vapor-locked on this question for way too long. I was the proverbial donkey between two haystacks.
sock, sock, bedroom shoes again and go figure out which shoes to wear, shoe shoe
but if I am wearing the right kind of shoes and socks (lace up shoes and thick socks) and I decide to give my feet a moisturizing treatment all day it’s:
lotion, sock, shoe, lotion, sock, shoe
 it surprised me that I did it different then too but that is my little ritual
Like Archie Bunker pointed out- suppose you put on a sock then a shoe. Then you put on the second sock and it’s got a hole in it. Then you have to take the first shoe and sock off so you can find a new pair that matches.
Sock, sock and then (if absolutely necessary) shoe, shoe. I’d forego shoes altogether if society was so damned uptight. It’s not like there are foot hazards everywhere.
When wearing shorts: shorts then flip flops or on the rare occassion that I wear shoes with shorts it’s shorts, sock, sock, shoe, shoe.
I’d like to take this question one step further: after putting on your shoes, do you lace them after each shoe goes on your foot or do you lace them after both shoes are on your feet? I was always told that putting on your shoe and then lacing it before the other one was on would cause bad luck.
So I always do the following sock, sock, pants, shoe, shoe, lace, lace.
Depending on how I feel that day, I may start with a sock. If I don’t, it’s because I don’t feel like wearing socks (I even wear boots without socks). If I start with a sock, it’s because I feel like wearing them… then it’s a tossup what I put on next, it’s whatever I pick up next… unless it’s the shoe for the sockless foot.
Always sock, sock, pant, shoe, shoe. If they are laceup shoes (usually, I wear ones with velcro “buckles”), it’s sock, sock, pants, shoe, shoe, lace, lace. This is because I like to stand up and put my foot up on my chair to tie the shoes, instead of bending over.
My 17-year-old daughter does it this way: pants, run around room trying to find socks, run around more trying to find shoes, then, sock, sock, shoe, shoe. This may make it sound as though her room is enormous; it’s not. It’s just a mess!
I’m not big on socks - but since fall/winter are here - I guess I’ll have to wear them. After 4 1/2 years in Florida, I finally have to go back to close-toed shoes - darn it!
And it’s - bra, panties, bottoms, top, sock,sock,blow-dry hair, eat breakfast, shoe, shoe, feed cats, make lunch, go to work.
Tragically, Hypno-Toad, some people are not as organized as you. I just put them on in whatever order I find them, although I put on a sock for a foot before I put on the shoe, and I usually bother to make sure that the socks are roughly the same length.
Heck, I’ve put both shoes on the wrong feet and not realized it until I got up and tried to walk out of my room. If my other foot is socked, then I’ll put it on that foot, sonce it’s easier than finding the other shoe. If not, I’ll probably look for the other shoe before trying to find another sock.
I haven’t tied my shoes since before I can remember. They’re permanently laced. All I do is tug them on or off.
