Software to rename MP3 files

Is there a freeware/shareware program out there that will catalog and rename and retag my MP3 files for me? I know Musicmatch does it, but the version that came with my IPOD is out of date and I’m not going to buy the Plus version just for that function.

What say you audiophile Dopers?

I’d look at Musicbrainz. It’ll tag the individual files, unlike many products which will only do it as you rip the CD. It doesn’t give you Genres in it’s current state, but it’s open source, so you get to screw over the man.

I think you can upgrade your Musicmatch for free. It won’t be the Plus version, but it should work for your purposes.

Mp3tag v.2.27

I’m 98% sure that that Super tagging options in Musicmatch are disabled unless you pay $$$ to upgradr to Plus.

I liked Tag & Rename.

I use Winamp.

I’ve used MoodLogic for this.

Yeah, I like Musicbrainz too. Check the project out. It takes a little bit of effort to use it, but nowhere near as much as manually tagging them does.

There’s also The GodFather.

I use mp3 tag tools for renaming using the IDE tags - or putting IDE tags from the file name.

I got away from using Winamp a few years back in favor of Windows cause I disliked the old clunky interface. Now that the new models are out and they’ve gone away from being totally free I assume they’ve caught up, but looking at the site I don’t see any words about super-tagging and file-renaming. Is this a plug-in or what?
