Just got a moto Q9M, and I want to take a DVD and turn it into whatever file format can be played by windows media, which is what is supported on this mobile toy. What type of program do I need to save the DVD as whatever file types to sync onto the phone? I am going to be stuck in hospital at least overnight and want some ‘comfort food’ viewing. I am pretty sure my Nero wont do it, it is pretty limited.
commercial DVDs are encrypted, so tools like http://www.autogk.me.uk/ will not work on them. It will happily convert unecrypted DVD (in .vob format) into avi format. I suspect your phone likes mp4 or maybe wmv formats - there are lots of freeware/shareware conversion programmes out there - just google “DVD to wmv conversion”

You can always try SUPER which will covert anything to just about anything.
You may also try AnyDVD which will remove the encryption and region coding from the DVD.
DVD Shrink is free and it does a better job, IME.
