I see posters on this board referring to “LBMB”. What is it?

Go see for yourself, if you dare.

LBMB is a message board run and used by fundamentalist Christians. After an ill-advised reconoiter by some SDMBers with too much time on their hands, the LBMBers responded with an impressive assault on the Great Debates forum. Their posts (mostly preachy, you’re all going to Hell, type of stuff) have accounted for a good portion of the traffic over there during the last week.
I was out of town for about a week when all this stuff came down.
But lemme tell ya–
The last time I saw this many peasants with torches and pitchforks, Colin Clive was still alive.
When I first read the peasants with torches and pitchforks, I thought you were going to talk about the people going after Frankensteins monster. I think it would’ve fit to.
Colin Clive = Dr. Frankenstein

Above is interesting. But What or Who is left behind and by whom?
Gesundheit!
WOW!!
I didn’t realize all the fecal matter had been spattering the fans over in Great Debates…I should check that place out more often.
No, no, it’s a euphemism for “left buttock” (or “left buttcheek”)
Wow. I generally stay out of the Great Debates, since I never have anything important to say. What a mess.
Bottom line: Nobody’s right. Everybody’s wrong. Including me.
LBMB?
Livid Bemoaning Malcontents Blather? That’s my guess, but I could be wrong.
Best!

Skelton–the people Left Behind are those that won’t go up to Heaven when the Rapture comes. The Rapture, in case you don’t know, is kind of another name for the 2nd Coming, when all god’s chillun get called home, and all us heathens get cast down into the fiery pit, or Cleveland, whichever comes first.
Well, I feel like an idiot. Yep I sure do.
I didn’t recognize the name Colin Clive from the book or as a character. Thanks for pointing out he was the actor portraying the doctor. I was getting the point anyway, even if I didn’t know the name. Learn something everyday.
My Chicken Little carpool partner recommends the Left Behind books as a “handbook” of what to expect and what to do if you find yourself unRaptured. She seemed to be implying that it’s something I would find quite useful. Hmm.

LBMB = Left Behind Message Board.
“Left Behind” is a series of novels written by Tim F. Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. They’re based on the Christian prophecy that God will one day openly reappear on Earth to gather up all the true Christians. Those who don’t qualify will be left behind to presumedly face the wrath of Satan. Many Christians believe this event will occur in the near future based on their interpretation of the Bible. The Left Behind Message Board is a forum for fans of these books who generally are Christian fundamentalists.
Unfortunately, God didn’t reappear soon enough to prevent a few of the regulars on this board from visiting the LBMB. From what I have heard, most were fairly well-behaved but a handful were abusive to the religious beliefs of the LBMB regulars. In retribution for this, several of the LBMB regulars have visited this board in order to spam the Great Debates forum with Christian messages. Communications between the more reasonable members of both boards appear to be leading to an end of the dispute.
Hey Gr8Kat! Sorry to hijack, but I never did hear–what did your co-worker have to say Monday morning, after the Rapture didn’t happen?
Ah, ok - I was wondering what LBMB stood for, myself, so I searched and found this thread.
Hmmm… maybe if I’m really bored one day…
Esprix, who promises not to tell them I’m from here!
My name is Shane, I’m a Christian, I think Left Behinders are nuts. Why? Same reason I hate Holy Rollers, I’ll paraphrase a letter I wrote, “that kooky Christian, holy rollercoaster nutbar place that makes me wanna vomit. I mean, more power to them, with their anti-tolerance, we casually forget that Jesus taught us not to hate, we hate because we love, bullshit witch hunt crusade, but y’know, that’s just not my bag.” I’ve asked them if they know Jesus and they always say yes, but when I confront them on why they distort Christ’s words to suit their personal needs I usually get called a heathen. Go figure.
Where’s my side of FUN!?
Kisses!

I was away from the board when all of this stuff happened, though I heard about it later. I never did visit the board, though, until now. Good grief, it’s weird! It’s like a mirror-SDMB. I keep picturing their head guy as a Cecil look-alike with a goatee. They have only two moderators: Admin and Admin2. Very mysterious and spooky, if you ask me. I’m glad to be back. An interesting side-note: They have apparently suffered worse than we have in recent days. It seems they had to shut down their whole board and rebuild from scratch. I thank, uh, goodness that we didn’t have to do that here.
Heck is where you go when you don’t believe in Gosh.

If you haven’t yet, you should check out their forum The Narrow Road . They have a thread titled Is being Gay a choice. It is fascinating, kind of like watching a train wreck. If you want to check the thread out, I suggest you do so very soon, as threads disappear there very quickly. I love Trixie, she thinks being Gay is genetic – like alcoholism and sky diving. I kid you not.
After the unfortunate battle of the boards, one of the posters from LBBB that stayed a while started a thread with a title of something like “Ask the fundamentalist”. I just assumed that your “Ask the Gay Guy” was a reference to that thread. I can’t seem to find the thread, though.
Virtually yours,
