Neuro is totally right here guys, check it out. It’s like a “Bizarro World” version of the SDMB. EXACT opposites, notice how blood-red and hellish theirs looks as opposed to our pillowy, blue and white heavenly decor.
I checked it out, and I clicked on “register” (just to see what theyd ask for - I had no ideas of posting anarchic little messages, nope, not me) - and guess what - they said “We are not accepting new registers at this time.” So, like, does that mean that the 144,000 spaces in heaven have been filled? Nobody else can get in til one of those guys commits adultery or becomes homosexual or something?
Just so history doesn’t repeat itself, you should know what happened in the battle between the dopers and the pounders. Some of the dopers (including one of our beloved moderators) with too much time on their hands decided to launch an attack on LBBB. The pounders quickly realized where the attack came from and launched a very effective counter strike (having the advantage of superior numbers). Things got very ugly on both sides. The sad irony is that one board’s credo is fighting ignorance and the other’s credo the literal word of the Bible and both sides showed a lack of intelligence and Christian values. Apologies were issued on both sides and the pounders were called home. I assume that the same thing happened over there. The hostile ones left. A few seemed genuinely interested in SDMB and were welcomed to stay. I think their presence enriched this board. I haven’t seen much of them lately, though. (Flinx, did you come over here at that time?) Sometimes I lurk over there, but I since am a Gay atheist who believes in evolution, I don’t think I would fit in there. If you are genuinely interested in contributing to LBBB, I suppose you could e-mail one of their administrators and ask about registration, but please don’t go over there with the intention of setting those people straight. I have no intention registering myself. It’s just too strange for me.
I can’t resist sharing the following from the thread I linked to above:
Whenever I needed to be reminded why I believe what I do I used to tune in to “The 700 Club,” and within five minutes I was either calling my congressman, writing out a check to the Philadelphia Gay & Lesbian Task Force, or calling the community center to do volunteer work.
After doing a little research here and reading through some old threads, I got the gist of it. It looks like it was pretty nasty. I came in right after it ended, so I missed it.
Speaking of history, I see it’s already being rewritten.
There was NO attack. Some dopers registered there and opened a dialogue with some of the LB members. Although the debates were civilly conducted, when the LB’s discovered who the doperes were, they came and attacked this board because they felt duped.
I repeat: There was one attack, and we were on the receiving end. Period.

I apologize for the inaccuracies in my description of what happened. I did not participate in what happened. I was not lurking on LBBB at the time, so I really don’t know what happened over there. My report is based upon what I saw here (mostly after the fact). I would say even if the intention was rational discourse and not an assault on LBBB, it was perceived as an attack by some pounders. Maybe the light of reason threatens their belief structure too much. There was much hostility on both sides regardless of who started it. I personally don’t like those people very much. (They scare me.) I just do not want to see a repeat.
About rummaging through old threads. You may be able to do that here, but over there old threads (or threads they don’t like) seem to disappear. All threads and posts (at least on The Narrow Road) dated before 3-21-2000 were deleted “(d)ue to some technical issues”. My guess is that they were hacked.
Being a member of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronsim - “Those weirdo medievalist group”) in the east, I annually attend a big fete in western PA called the Pennsic War with 10,000 of my closest friends. The locals love us, as we give them much commerce for two weeks in August, but some of them still don’t understand us. While standing in line at the local fabric store, a local approached a gaggle of us (whilst we were in garb, no less) and asked if we were Satanists. Deadpanning, and without missing a beat, dear dear Master Giles responded, “No, dear, we’re satinists, and we’re just picking up a few things for our ritual tonight.” We cackled, the local was befuddled.
Before someone else finds it, let me point out another error I made. The thread
I thought was “Ask the Fundamentalist” was actually Questions for
Fundamental Christians started by Navigator who hasn’t been seen since February of this year. (Did the rapture happen?) Satan (or was it Stan A ;)) suggested the title “Ask a Fundie” and I thought of that as the title.
Seriously, If you really want to register then go for it. As for myself, while I like to lurk over there, I can’t stay too long or I get a bad headache (from the color scheme and the content). If you do register and start an “Ask the Gay Guy” over there please let me know about it.
OTOH, If you go over there and they help “cure” you of the demon of homosexuality, please don’t come back here to start the thread “Ask the Ex-Gay Guy”. (You know I’m kidding, right?)
