This has happened 3 times to me tonight: after maybe 5 minutes reading in a thread (each time in a different forum), I start hearing a conversation between two women through my speakers. It’s always the same conversation, one woman asking another how she “landed” her husband. Turns out the woman being asked is the wife of a president - I can’t tell which one, it might be an historic recording, it might be Betty Ford for example.
As soon as I go back to the forum away from the thread, or click on another site, the recording stops. If I come back it starts up again after 5 minutes or so. And it starts in the same place.
What’s up with this? What could be causing it, and has anyone else had this happen?

Could it be a video ad playing somewhere on a region of the screen you haven’t scrolled down to yet?
I did scroll down each time to see if there was anything likely that might be the source, and didn’t see anything. And I didn’t think that SDMB runs ads that activate by themselves. Maybe I was wrong.

We usually don’t have ads with sound but from time to time one creeps in.
Usually when you hear something that sounds like a broadcast it tends to be on another page that you find behind all your other pages … please let us know if any of you see/hear that – and report all the information you can about it.

Well, you’re right, they are ads. There doesn’t seem to be any way to turn them off. And they are more than “creeping in” “from time to time”.

Unless people report on these situations and tell us what’s going on we have no way of doing anything about it. We need more information, simply complaining about it is not sufficient.
