Some old white women.

“Bitchy toward other people, not me.”

This thread has been a BigT gold mine. Excellent lectures as always Sir. hat-tipping smiley

Did you see me make a moronic post like that about Hillary supporters? If so, would you please cite it, because I don’t remember making a post like that.

Either one, I guess. I was keying off the fact that he was making an issue of skin color, which is an automatic sign of racism.

Someone else want to take this one?

I think you’re taking that slogan(and yourself) wayyyyyy too seriously. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t this board originate from the column of the same name that addressed readers’ questions? Specific questions that had factual answers? What you’re talking about is something different, and is most definitely *not *the reason I’m here.
I and many other people have had their ignorant views changed on this board.

Funny, I never seem to see anyone jumping to your defense the many times people request your dismount from that high horse. If it’s true, then great, but I’ve yet to see any evidence.
Because that’s what we do. Bigotry may be a harder issue to tackle, but we’ve had plenty of people learn from it. I’ve seen plenty of transphobic people no longer say transphobic things.
Who is this “we” you speak of? Or is this the royal “we”? It must be the latter because I know I didn’t sign up to be part of anyones’ team, nor do I share any sort of common agenda.
And it sure as hell your responsibility as a decent human being to try and change the minds of the bigots out there. How the fuck is it not? How do you think the world gets any better if all the “good” people just ignore all this and think some magic will change their reality?
Who are you to tell me or anyone else what their responsibility is?
Or do you just not give a shit about all the bigotry in the world and the people it hurts? Life is good enough for you, so you don’t care about anyone else? We kinda have to try and make the world better if we care even slightly about other people.

There you go with the "we " again. I agree with your principles for the most part, but we differ in how we live with those ideals. Contrary to your belief, people can care about things without making it their life mission.

We actively work to change these people’s realities by exposing them to ideas that they would otherwise not see. And, even if they get mad and argue against you, it doesn’t mean they didn’t hear you, and that the kernel of an idea isn’t there.

It’s the only way things can possibly change. You can’t just sit back and hope that things will get better on their own. That’s just doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I’m sorry it frustrates you, but it’s kinda the raison d’être of this board. Bigotry is one of the worst kinds of bigotry out there. We’re gonna fight it.

Picking apart your lecture is getting tiresome so let me just sum up. . . . The great majority of people here are against bigotry, sexism, homophobia, and are generally very much for equality and generally not being dicks to one another. So when you go off on your tangents, you’re basically preaching to the choir. Those who do not share your views are not, I repeat not going to have their minds changed by your condescension. So basically all you’re doing is making yourself feel good in imagining that you’re making a difference. Maybe you do make a difference ITRW but here your constant, sanctimonious ramblings are falling on deaf ears or annoying the ears of those that already agree with you.

I’m guessing he’s talking about his mammy.

Hey, you be nice to BigT. He’s just trying to cure the world by nagging everyone to death. Tis a noble calling indeed. Because once everyone is dead from irritation there will be no more racism or sexism or bigotry of any kind and BigT can then finally smile and revel in his smugness sitting all alone in his mommy’s basement.
