Some Statistics on Crime

Oh dear, who left the backdoor open? there´s all kind of vermin coming in lately.

Hey Salvador, got a quick one for you:

What is the difference, to you, between someone who kipes a dollar from a store and someone who steals millions of dollars from his company?

Springs hand up and jumps in his seat

Me!, me!

The white guy that stole the millions was smarter!!

Someone by the name of BrainGlutton over in GD.

That just might be the nail in the coffin.

This thread alone probably is. See the locked Pit thread.

Already did, thanks.

FenrisSF, don’t give me that “sacrificed” nonsense. Having seen my best friend get beat up for “being different” and gotten beat up far too often myself for “being different” and defending her, I’d prefer not to be sacrificed on your altar of conformity. For the record, that best friend of mine was about as white as you can get, as am I, as are the kids who were beating us up. I was in far more danger in school in my small town than I am in my mixed-race neighborhood, or even a nearby mostly black neighborhood. The only one of the three someone pulled a knife on me was that small town.

I assume that there has just been an oversight that interfered with getting this pile of sludge moved into the Pit or closed, but while it is here and open:

An actual study of history will demonstrate the several errors in your position. Years ago, blacks did not make up the majority of prison populations. That was during the period when blacks were not the majority population of older cities. (Socio-economic conditions note more than simple poverty.) So the claim that blacks have always been poor and that therefore they have always made up the greatest number of criminals falls on its face with the reality that they have not alwqys provided the largest percentage of the prison population, despite their poverty.

There is also the fact to consider (in light of the OP) that well over half the current population in prisons are not there for actual offenses against persons, but for violations of draconian drug laws–laws that are enforced more frequently and more harshly among the urban black populations than among white suburban (or either white or black rural) populations.

Now, it is possible to demonstrate (using valid statistics rather than the sludge from the OP) that among various age/sex/socio-economic populations, currently a young black man has the highest risk of turning to a life of robbery or other personally aggressive crime. However, it has not been demonstrated to me that his risk is higher than that of an urban Irish kid of the 1880s or an urban Italian kid of the 1920s.

We are attempting to fight ignorance and it is taking longer. . . .

MPSIMS it surely isn’t. A debate? Obviously not: unless one was dropped repeatedly as a child, it’s not too hard to see the bias behind the OP and its statistics. There’s already an active Pit thread.

So, I’ll just close this piece of shite whilst we discuss the posting privileges of such wondeful newbies as Salvador and FenrisSF.
