I was messing about with Google Earth a bit earlier today, mainly browsing through Europe because I’m fascinated by being able to see historical places in the context of where they really are. I was looking at Notre Dame … the Eiffel Tower … the Tower of London … Westminster Abbey … wait a minute. Did the designer of Versailles really mean for it to look like this? Was he serious?
I mean, come on … check this out. It seems like the designer may have had a thing for cartoons, had they existed.
Perhaps the strangest view from above is to watch people walking…from about 80 feet up on a hotel balconey. Us upright primates have a very unexpected twisting of our torsos as we totter along. Really looks as if we will fall over at any moment. Try taking a look as described and see if you agree.
