So all you Canadopers remember Belinda Stronach’s defection to the Liberals and away from her former flame Peter MacKay, now in Harper’s cabinet, right?

So during Question Period in the House of Commons, the Liberals and Conservatives were going at it over the effects of pollution on humans and animals, and Liberal MP Mark Holland asked Peter McKay–teasingly–“what about your dog?”

McKay responded by motioning to Stronach’s empty seat and saying, quite coolly, “You already have her.”

He now denies making this comment. But damn.

Y’know, I appreciate Blinda’s political conviction, but I have to hand it to McKay, he knows a wide open comment when he sees one and what he lacks in restraint he has in the wit to take advantage of it.

Politics is funny sometimes.
