Perhaps this belongs in Cafe Society, but as it is extremely mundane and pointless I of course felt at home here. If I was wrong, my deepest apologies.

In any case, I was watching HBO last night and we were watching one of the Harry Potter movies when I discovered that I couldn’t remember if we were watching the second or the third one.

Now I have to admit I’m a Harry Potter fanatic. I have all the canon books and eagerly wait the next, though the title makes me twitch whenever I hear it. In any case, I ramble.

So we’re watching the movie and I am trying to remember where it falls in line, then I realize that this has to be the second one as Draco Malfoy hasn’t had the dramatic changes to his physical appearance. Is that sad? I mean, I place the stories by how Malfoy looks.

Have you ever had to do this for other series? Indiana Jones et al?

I generally recognize what season of Farscape we’re watching by how artificially straightened Aeryn Sun’s hair is, so yes.

Also Buffy by how anorexic - I mean thin and “fit” - Sarah Michelle Gellar has gotten.

Yep. Within a couple minutes of watching an episode, I can generally place what season of Star Trek: TNG or Star Trek: DS9 I’m watching by the uniform, characters, or, more rarely, their characterizations.
