Something wierd happening on my mac.

When I open system preferences and click the network pane, i get the network settings window, but another smaller window opens on top of it saying “your network settings have been changed by another application”. Then when I click the little red “close” dot on that window, it closes then comes right back.
I don’t see anything abnormal with the working of my computer or internet access.
Any ideas what’s up with that?
Oh, it’s an iMac G5 running OS X 10.4.11

I ran the DNSChanger removal tool, but it found nothing.
There are a few more tricks to try on those links provided by beowulff, which I’ll tackle tonight. I wonder why Apple hasn’t offered a fix, since it appears to have come on one of their updates.
It’s a little comforting to find that I’m not alone, though.
