Ging, if you do end up coming, you know you have a place to stay!
I’ll actually be in Montréal then, but my boyfriend doesn’t want to. He’s a lurker, so he doesn’t want to have to stand outside and look in the window.
So, bring him along. There are goats at the sugar shack, after all
Bumping this back up. I may be in the area around that time and this way I’ll be able to find this thread.
Unfortunately it turns out I can’t go after all. The NDP’s federal council is that weekend. Poop.

A post from this thread has disappeared.
It doesn’t look like I’m on for this. I’m back to work and it’s just not easy to find childcare for a weekend for our boys, with all of my family 2500+ miles away.
As much as I’d love to visit Canada I don’t have transportation up so I will pass
I’m still planning on going! And I’m bringing my female counterpart, as well as two other friends who are in school north of the border at the moment.
Well, we’re a week and a half out. Are there plans? Who’s going? Who’s bringing the goat?
Sorry for the delay. You wouldn’t believe the last few weeks I just had  So, the reservations have been made under the name Cecil Adams at the cabane a sucre L’Hermine, 212 rang St-Charles in Havelock for 12 noon (and as for the goat, they have goats on location as well as llamas). For supper on the 16[sup]th[/sup], I was thinking of going back to Da Giovanni at 572, Ste-Catherine E at 8 PM, since reservations are not required. and for Saturday evening, I made reservations at Rotisseries St-Hubert BBQ, at 1019 Ste-Catherine E for 7h30. And matt I know you can’t come for the sugaring off, but Isuppose you could make an appearance on one of the evenings ?
As for transportation, I am still trying to contact my friend Maf to see if he can provide a lift for the pedestrians Montreal Dopers.
Sadly, no. I’m gone from the 16th to the 18th (I might be back in town by dinnertime on the 18th, Sunday, though.)
At this point, I can confirm that I will be in the area on that weekend and, barring unforeseen circumstances, will attend.
Yea !!! Another convert !
Awesome! I will be four people total. I’m going to start starving myself now, in anticipation.
We’ll be Saturday-only people, though.
I’m making arangements to be there Friday evening, but there’s a small chance I won’t be able to make it until quite late. I’ll be up there for the sugaring off for sure, though.
I might be able to make it for half an hour on Saturday night because it’s not too far from the office – but yuck, chicken n ribs (where’s that damn puke smiley?) – don’t save me a seat for dinner, I’ll eat before I show up.
So, I’ve finally been able to reach my friend Maf (conflicting schedules) and he will provide us Montreal Dopers (and guests, if needed be) with a lift on Saturday. We should be leaving from the Lionel-Groulx metro at 11, so that we can arrive there with no rush.
How many people can Maf fit?
About 6 or 7 he told me, but that would be tight, 5 should be the comfortable number…
How long does it take to get there from Montreal?
Actually, I’ll be driving from Bishops University in Lennoxville. Anyone know how far that is from Montreal? That’d be good to know, too!
