Song help

I heard a song today that I have not heard in a very long time The chorus went something like this " when will I hold you again" Its a song about unrequieted love, and while it dosen’t apply to my life now, 10 years ago it did. I was just thinking about those halcion days of my youth, and wondered if any dopers could help me find the song. Anyone got any ideas?

Was it “If I could just hold you again?”

Billy Vera and the Beaters… from the show Family Ties…

Maybe not?

One of my favorite songs…

“What did you think I would do at this moment
when you’re standing before me
with tears in your eyes
trying to tell me that you… you found you another
and you just don’t love me no more.”
“I’d fall down on my knees, kiss the ground that you walk on,
if I could just hold you again.”

It’s “At this Moment”, by Billy Vera and the Beaters. (I do recall seeing this song listed as “If I Could Just Hold You Again”, but the song starts off with him saying the title is “At This Moment”.)

It could be something else, though… weirddave, was it a slow, slightly jazz-y song? If not, then it’s not Billy Vera.

HMMM…Thanks for the help-but that’s not it. But I remember that song too-and it’s damn similar. The song I’m thinking of is a different. I was remeinded of it last night, when I watched the Friends episode where Joey’s duck eats Ross’s wedding ring. It’s the song that they played when the duck was in surgury to retrieve the ring-it was the background music as Joey dreamed of having his duck back. Now that other song is in my head, and I’ll have to try to get the 1st one back. I remember thinking as I watched-“Jesus, you used to listen to this song all the time!” And to my dismay, I realized it’s not 10 years ago, but almost 15. After my first girlfriend dumped me, this song talked to me. Hell, at that point, it was written for me!-LOL Weird how certain songs instantly transport yoou back in time, isn’t it?. Anyone else got any other ideas? I’ll try to see if i can remember more of the song I was looking for-right now I got the Billy Vera song occupying my mind.

Dave, does it also have a line that goes something like, “When will this strong yearning end”? Can’t for the life of me think of the title or who does it, tho.

Damn…first chance I have to show off my musical prowess and the only song I know that has that line is “Weekend in New England” by Barry Manilow, and I’m betting that’s not it.
Sorry.

You need to get some of the “Friends” freaks in here (and I mean that in the nicest way possible). I betcha Jack Batty or Bricker knows what that song is.

Yeah, I’ve heard it, and I’d bet on Manilow.

If it is the song from Friends, I’m about 99% positive that you are thinking of Manilow’s Weekend in New England.

Hey Dave? At your leisure, could you step over here? Thanks!

Mouthbreather- I took care of you in the referenced thread.

As to the OP- That’s it!-Weekend in New England. And LMAO, I think I would have been mortified as a teenager to realize I was grooving to a BARRY MANILOW song!

think it’s the 3 Degrees, or something close to that name - an oldie… another part
“Are we lovers, or are we just friends,
When will I see you again”
(think that’s the title)

'Twas indeed Barry Manilow’s Weekend in New England playing on the soundtrack while the boys reminisced about the duck …

Lyrics:

Last night, I waved goodbye, now it seems years
I’m back in the city, where nothin’ is clear
But thoughts of me, holdin’ you, bringin’ us near

CHORUS
And tell me
When will our eyes meet?
When can I touch you?
When will this strong yearnin’ end?
And when will I hold you again?

Time in New England, took me away
Long rocky beaches and you by the bay
We started a story whose end must now wait

CHORUS

I feel the change comin’, I feel the wind blow
I feel brave and daring!, I feel my blood flow, oh
With you I could bring out all the love that I have
With you there’s a heaven, so earth ain’t so bad

CHORUS

Manilow. That would probably explain why I couldn’t think of who did the song; I had blocked it from my memory.

See, I told you he would know it. Jack Batty, the Freaky Friends Fan, came through. With lyrics, even.

::pumps fist in the air, then, realizing the Manilow Recognition Factor, pulls hat over face and ambles away::
