What’s the techno-sounding song playing at the dance in Grosse Point Blank? I think it may contain the lyrics “yah yah yah yah … yahyahyah.”
Pressure Drop by The Specials.
Awesome. Thanks!
It’s been ages since I saw the movie, but could it be Go! by Tones on Tail?
Cantara, that makes much more sense. It’s been too long since I’ve seen it, obviously.
Yep, it’s Tones on Tail.
Although now I have “Pressure Drop” stuck in my head…
“Preuure Drop” is the song that Debbie is playing when Martin first walks into the studio. He opens the door, surprising her, she stammers “And now…here’s…The Specials, doing…oneoftheirsongs” It starts out with the really slow organ part, which is about all you hear before the dialog starts. You do get to hear “It is you, Oh Yeah” just as the lyrics cut off.
Grosse Pointe Blank has a lot of of great little touches where the soundtrack directly comments on the story like that.
paperbackwriter may well be right, but the IMDB lists both songs in the GPB soundtrack.
One of the best… soundtracks… ever!
To the OP, if the song also has the lyric “Livin’ it up/It’s a good thing/It’s good for you” and the yeahs go “yeah yeah yeah yeah/yeah yeah yeah-yeah-yeah,” it’s Tones On Tail’s “Go”.
Although, unfortunately, Go! is not on the actual CD Soundtrack.
