Song Suggestions for Alarm Clock

I’d recommend not choosing a song that you like now, because the association of the song with being forced to wake up will mean that you’ll soon hate it.

Wait, you can make your alarm clock play the same song every morning? What will they come up with next?

The logical choice.

On second thought, make that “the fitting choice.” This is the logical choice.

Concur. In fact, the sensible thing to do is to pick a song you already hate.

That’s what I use.

“We Built This City” by Starship, and set your alarm clock on the dresser across the room.

The William Tell Overture.

The W. Carlos version from A Clockwork Orange.

I used to have my CD player set up to play Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra. It’ll get ya movin’.

Brown Sugar* by Sir Michael et.al.

My current alarm clock is Don’t Tread On Me by 311

Back in the day when I was a Master’s student and I didn’t have to get up early it was I’m Only Sleeping by the Beatles.

Of course, the ultimate get up and go song would be Jitterbug by Wham!

On second thought:

Frank Zappa: “Weasels Ripped My Flesh” (the “song”, not the album).

Hopefully not the whole thing. It’ll put ya back to sleep.

But how about a rip-roarin’ Sousa march?

“Get Up” by R.E.M.

Don’t dream, it’s over by Crowded House.

I like this idea (not as much as my own choices, of course).

Bugle Call Rag by Earl Scruggs

I like it. But at 5 am it’d make me crazy.

Jazz, Delicious Hot, Disgusting Cold by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.

I knew someone in the Vietnam War who said whoever was in charge of the camp loudspeaker would wake everyone up to this too.

Obviously there needs to be a rotation of wake-up songs.

Here’s a classic for the list.

Get out of that bed
Wash your face and hands
