NASA Wake Up Songs

Ever since the days of Gemini, NASA has been awakening astronauts with their choice of “wake up” songs. For reasons that stagger the imagination, YOU are on the next mission.

So what are you choices for greeting the morning?

Personally, I choose:

Woodstock Soundtrack - Cut into the opening riff from “Volunteers” as Grace screams “Good Morning, People!”

“Miserlou” - Dick Dale - The opening guitar run will get anybody’s heart pumping

You?

I’m of the opinion that bagpipes are a good way to start the day. Maybe “The Minstrel Boy”. Probably with drum accompaniament.

Boy it would be really hard to top that:

Not as good a song, but an excellent wake up song would be:

Katrina & The Waves - Walking On Sunshine

Very Title appropriate: Frank Sinatra – Fly Me to the Moon 1964

Lesser Options:
The Rolling Stones – 2,000 Light Years From Home 1967

David Bowie - Space Oddity Honestly there are several Bowie songs.

Kansas - Icarus - Borne on Wings of Steel

I used to have “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis and the News as my morning alarm in my cell phone (as a homage to BTTF) but I had to remove it because I was starting to hate it.
However waking up and discovering I’m in space would be great (instead of waking up and discovering I have to go to work) so I think I would use it.

Tesla, Modern-Day Cowboy

“I Can See Clearly Now,” by Johnny Nash

“Gonna be a bright sunshiny day.”

I went through a phase of clipping ringtones from various bits of music featuring trumpets. And I’m still using Eric Coates’s Calling All Workers, which should get anyone up and at it.

No votes for I Got You Babe?

I seem to remember having seen this post before… Deja vu…

“If you seek Amy” just because the media would have to report it. :smiling_face_with_horns:

Good Morning to you.

The one from Singing in the Rain?

Sun Arise by Alice Cooper

Another Coop song snippet that came to mind is the “Wake up! wake up! wake up! wake up!” refrain from Black Juju. Don’t know how well that one would go over though.

No, even more saccharine, the OG version by the writers of Happy Birthday.

Urgh and yuck. Did you like Barney the Dinosaur too?

No, but that will certainly wake them up, right??

You forget, you’re one of them in this scenario:

Oliver, “Good Morning, Starshine”

I keep thinking of Good Morning Starshine (The Earth Says Hello) by Oliver, and from the musical Hair, but I wouldn’t wish that on anyone waking up.
