I know this isn’t really a SD question, but since we all seem to have knowledge of some obscure information, perhaps someone can help me. There was a song in the early 80’s, the chorus was “Oh Nicole, My Sweet Nicole”. And there was also a stanza about looking like a burnout, like you stayed up all night…I have tried to find out from other sources-but I knew I could come here and find out!
Oh, Nicole
My sweet Nicole
Oh, Nicole
Sweet, sweet Nicole
sorry … I remember the song … but not the singer …
“Nicole” was by a group called Point Blank. It was their only song to make the Billboard U.S. Hot 100, peaking at #39 in the summer of 1981. The song came from their “American Exce$$” album. Info about the album, plus the song lyrics, are located at: Point Blank American Exce$$ Lyrics.
(I wonder if this was only a regional hit. Even seeing the lyrics, I have no recollection at all of this song).
Well popokis’ location is California, as well as ruadh, and I grew up in New York and I certainly remember it. I would’ve guessed it was later in the 80’s but as I get older the memory ain’t what it used to be.
Thanks for the info. It was driving me crazy trying to remember. And 1981 would have been the right year.
Actually, “Oh Nicole” I think was an earlier hit. I would say 1979 or 1980. Alledgedly the band was named after this little hick town about 70 miles N/NE of Houston, so maybe it got sooner airplay down here.
