Oh god yes. Thank you. I thought I was the only one who hated that fucking song.
To save the others the trouble: Cat Carol
In the video (you think I’m listening to it?) the cat shows up as a new constellation, not exactly going to Heaven (which would have pissed off a whole lot of people)
We did this seriously back in 2001.
I give you 14 pages of Dreck, with lyrics:If Life Is a Rock and the Radio Rolls Me
Sorry, it was 2002.
Let me know if you can read the entire thread in a single sitting.
The Walker
I got as far as “Running Bear” and couldn’t find the ice pick so I had to use triple-stregth Brain Bleach instead.
WORST.
SONG.
EVER.
You are TRULY evil for posting that link.
What was the question again ???
It’s just a little something I do.
Did you quit after the first mention, or did you last until the second?
Those were the days, my friend, we thought they’d never end…
Cheif Scott died, Happyheathen was banned, and Fenris has moved on to new pursuits.
Rico - you still around?
CJ ?
Just a few quickies:
Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)
Mandy
Daddy Don’t you walk so fast
That’s the Night that the Lights Went Out in Georgia
Hey There Georgy girl…
Patches, Dicky Lee, 1958 - first of the Dead Teens
Down by the river
That flows by the coal yard
Stand wooden houses
With shutters torn down.
There lives a girl
Everybody calls patches,
Patches, my Darling
Of old shanty town
<snip>
But a girl from that place
would just bring me disgrace.
So my folks won’t let me see you
<snip>
I hear a neighbor, telling my Father
He says a girl; name of Patches was found
Floating face down in that dirty old river…
<snip>
It may not be Right
But Ill join you tonight
Patches.I’m coming to you…
Yeah, there’s a reason nobody plays that one much any more…
And a reason it is burned into my memory - I can sing the damned thing from memory.
Traces of Love, long ago,
That didn’t work out right…
Traces of love, tonight…
I’ll now return this to the younger group.
Just know you’ll never match the great Dreck masters of the past (I have every song mentioned in that thread on CD. Be afraid…
One mention was enough. Forty years without ever thinking of that awful piece of dreck, and now I can’t get it out of my head.
makeitstopmakeitstopmakeitstopmakeitstop (whimpers piteously…)
And now “Patches”. Have you no mercy? No pity?
Tell the truth, were you the Grand Inquisitor in a previous life? What’s the next evil torture you have planned? The Comfy Chair??
There’s some damn song on now about “you standin’ there in my American Apparel underwear”. She looks so perfect (thank you google). AaaaaaaaaaaaCccccccckkkkkkk. Just awful. Never again.
Born too late for any of the GOOD Inquisitions, so I just have to make do with whatever opportunities come along…
“What was it you were looking for
That took your life that night?
They said they found my High School Ring
Clutched in your fingers tiiigggghhhtttt
Teen Angel, Can you hear me,
Teen Angel, Can you seeeeee me.
Are you somewhere up above,
And am I still your
One true love?”
No - she’s humping everything in sight - it IS Heaven after all…
GAAAAAACK.
I confess. Anything you want me to sign, I’ll sign. Just make it stop. :smack:
Actually, the thread about songs you always turn up the volume has some good entries for this thread.
They never re-opened that worthless pit
They just placed a Marble Stand in front of it
These few words are written on that stand:
At the bottom of this mine lies one Hell of a Man
A Big, Big Man - Big John.
I’d never heard that song before, and I blame you for having had to hear it once
Someone who had never heard “Little Drummer Boy”?!!?
Do you all realize what this means?
We have us a dreck VIRGIN!
This shall not stand!
Get busy people! (this place really needs an evil smiley)
Oh, I’m sorry-I forgot fucking “Hotel California”.
This means she has not seen the TV Special…heh, heh, heh.
Since I didn’t know about the song, searching for it threw this(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ_MGWio-vc) version up as the first hit. Not only is the song dreck, the video is full of strange looking people making creepy faces. It was not a pleasant experience, to say the least.
Heh. I wish. I have heard most of the other songs in this thread.
Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger. I generally like Bob Seger, but hearing this played 150 billion times on the radio has ruined this one for me. Same with Margueritaville. Although I do like the version Alan Jackson did on Under The Influence.
