Songs of searing anger!

Turned out Earl was a missing person that nobody missed at all.

Ben Folds Five – “Song for The Dumped”

Crowds - Bauhaus

“Roses” - Outkast, bonus points because the lyrics are hilarious.

“You’re Going Down” - Sick Puppies

I instantly thought of Birmingham Six by the Pogues. Shane was in his pomp, and his fury is blistering*. It is always paired (so far as I know) with the more measured but forlorn Streets Of Sorrow. I had the very great privilege of seeing it performed live on a recording of a TV show back in '88 - and here is that show. The eyebrow scorching anger is pretty evident.

Sadly, the song is cut short as the show went to break. So here’s a complete version as well.

Barrett’s Privateers by Stan Rogers

“I Can Explain Everything” - T Bone Burnett

“I Don’t Care Anymore” - Phil Collins

“Somebody Ripped my Stick” by Surf Punks.

Free Me:

How did the OP fail to include Elvis Costello’s “I’m Not Angry”?

But, to be honest, I think it might be unfair to allow Costello to compete at all.

“Bullet with Butterfly Wings” - Smashing Pumpkins

And from the usually amiable Lyle Lovett - “L.A. County”

Yeah, it’s funny, but the subject of Weird Al Yankovic’s “One More Minute with You” has a lot of issues.

That’s a good one:

Despite all my rage I’m still just a rat in a cage

John Fogerty’s “Vanz Kant Danz” was written under similar circumstances. MTV got in a lot of trouble for playing it, but 40 years later, it really doesn’t matter re: YouTube.

Pantera, pick a song. I’ll go with “Five Minutes Alone”:

Who Needs Ya / Steppenwolf

Last week, you pulled another of your tricks
You let your brother move in here with a herd of freaks
They ate us out of house and home
Turned this place into a sty
Darlin’ by tomorrow you’ll be eatin’ humble pie

Oooh yes, good one! I should have put that in my initial list.

I guess I don’t see that as white-hot anger? More a post-anger reflection?

Don’t Kill The Whale - Yes.

Also “I’m So Sick of You.”

Or “You Don’t Love Me Anymore.” Though it’s not the singer that’s experiencing the searing anger…

I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair – South Pacific
