Songs of searing anger!

“I’m Mad” - Animaniacs

She Wants Revenge, “Tear You Apart”:

Never mind…

From the guy who gave you Rainbow Connection…

Which reminds me. Graham Parker really isn’t as well know in the US as he should be, for which Parker blamed the record label, Mercury. Over to you, Graham::

I forgot one whole album, Lou Reed’s brilliant “New York”, where he’s pissed about everything and everyone all the time, especially on “Sick Of You” and “Good Evening Mr. Waldheim”.

I think that’s my favorite album of the eighties. “Straw Man” is pretty angry too.

Mine too, and Lou Reed’s best work IMHO. Yeah, “Straw Man” is also very angry.

Straw Man
Go straight to the devil
Straw Man
Going straight to hell

ETA: oh, that reminds me of another very angry song by an often very angry band, the Clash’s “Straight To Hell”:

“I Will Be Okay”, Octavia’s song from the season 2 finale of Helluva Boss.

Well, I forgot to mention a great moment: on the version on the Clash’s live anthology “From Here To Eternity”, someone in the audience audibly sings along to the line “There ain’t no asylum here”, obviously in the wrong key. Without missing a beat, Joe Strummer spits out “Sing in tune, you bastard!” at the poor guy and flawlessly continues the song.

“You Stupid Bitch” (from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend)

“Sunday Bloody Sunday” by John Lennon

“Barracuda” by Heart

“Nazi Punks Fuck Off” by Dead Kennedys

More of The Clash – “Train in Vain”

Also ‘Working Class Hero’ by Lennon, although the anger may be more bitter than outright searing. Not many do bitterness and bile better than Lennon, though…

“Everything About You” by Ugly Kid Joe.

Dylan: “Positively Fourth Street.”

Richard Thompson: “Don’t Tempt Me.” Angry, but with a punch line.

How could I forget Tool, they have a few.

“Swamp Song”:

This bog is thick and easy to get lost in
'Cause you’re a dumb and belligerent fucker
I hope it sucks you down

Try some grand opera:

Der Hölle Rache (“Hell’s revenge is boiling in my heart’) - the Queen of the Night disowns her daughter - from The Magic Flute:
