Songs that make you think of Dopers?

Every time I hear that song that begins “This is the story of a girl” I think of…well, it should be obvious…A Girl.

Any songs that remind you of fellow Dopers?

There’s a song called “Motor Scooter” that kind of makes me think of Swiddles. It just captures a certain charm and exuberance of youth (although that’s not a terribly deep interpretation of the lyrics). Only trouble is, none of you will ever find a copy of this song. A friend of mine knew somebody who formed a band (they called themselves The Surrealists), they made a demo tape but never really went anywhere. A Napster search turns up “The Surrealists with Kim Salmon”, but I’m pretty sure it’s not the same guys. I’ve got a second generation copy, I may have to clean it up and post it myself one of these days.

And there’sThe Letter by Uncle Bonsai. The way it portrays long-distance gossip reminds me of the whole message board.

When I hear Elliott Smith’s “Miss Misery,” I automatically think of MissMisery.

When I hear Superchunk’s “Slack Motherfucker,” I think of slackergirl.

Well…whenever I hear “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by the Nylons, I think it’s rather obvious who I remember.

Oh, and whenever I hear “I Wanna Be Sedated” (Whether it’s by the Romones or the Offspring), I think of Homer.

“Take on Me” conjures up images of aha. Not that I know what you look like…but ya know.
