Songs that MUST be played full blast

“Comfortably Numb” Pink Floyd

“Piano Man” Ghostland Observatory

too many Rage songs to list, but especially “Bulls on Parade” and “Killing in the Name of”

“How Do U Want It” 2Pac

“Sad But True” and whatever song it is that goes “MASTER! MASTER!” by Metallica (Puppetmaster, Master of Puppets, something like that)

“Thunder Kiss '65” White Zombie

“Trip Like I Do” Crystal Method

…I could really waste half my day doing this, so I’m going to just stop.

Ballroom Blitz, Sweet
Play That Funky Music, Wild Cherry

La Grange, ZZ Top

but it’s best to start low, when he’s talkin’ bout that texas town, and then roll it up during the drum riff

Wizards in Winter, Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Bat Country, Avenged Sevenfold
Have You Ever/Staring At The Sun, Offspring
Can’t Stop, Red Hot Chili Peppers
Almost anything by Blue Man Group
Almost anything by Alice Cooper
My dad’s song of choice for showing off his home theater sound system years ago was Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins. I have to admit that’s a good one.

Handel: Halleluliah Chorus, Messiah
Handel: Zadok the Priest, Coronation Anthems

Up On Cripple Creek, The Band. For that matter, the entire Last Waltz video, which opens with the statement, “THIS FILM SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD”.

Paint It, Black. The Stones.

“Don’t Fear The Reaper,” by Blue Oyster Cult.

I’m rather fond of the Vanessa Carlton version of this song, myself.

Any 73/74 era King Crimson.

Just about anything by B.T.O.

Any song by Chicago that has a lot of horns.

At the risk of coming off a compleat basement-dwelling dweebazoid, I am going to nominate a record from that uncharted musical purgatory in between Romanticism and rock, namely White Heat by the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra.

This is jazz?

Boston - Peace of Mind
Boston - Foreplay/Long Time
Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son
Guns N’ Roses - Sweet Child O’ Mine
KISS - Strutter
Journey - Don’t Stop Believin’
Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone
All should ideally be played while cruising along a Texas highway, windows down, singing along at the top of your lungs when the bluebonnets are in bloom.

Thin Lizzy - Vagabond Of The Western World
Thin Lizzy - Remembering
Chicago - Dialogue (Parts 1 & 2)
Boston - Foreplay / Long Time
The Beatles - I Want You (She’s So Heavy)
Sly & The Family Stone - I Want To Take You Higher
King Crimson - Indiscipline
Spirit - Mr. Skin

more later, gotta go watch The Who movie on VH1.

Er… what? Vanessa Carlton? Not that I’m aware of. It’s actually a lot like the original Stones version, but with a chick singing it instead of the guy from Freejack. As much as I like the original, I just love this version more.

Anything by ACDC or Slayer needs to be played loud!
