Songs to kill a buzz

It’s insufferable when played once.

I never knew you didn’t like Rupert Holmes.

:escapes:

… golf clap…

A Rupert Holmes hater. Oh, well, whatcha gonna do about him?

It has to be part 3. That is where it really hits its stride.

Google, a company that invest billions of dollars in machine learning, a byword for web searches, couldn’t find me sh**, but one thread here and I’ve opened up a bottomless can of worms. So many different approaches and reasons why a song/genre is obnoxious. L I love it.

Nope, that has not been suggested yet, but I do remember a comedian talking about that prank. … and now I have to go find that clip.

How about the Pepto Bismol theme song?

(Just heard it on a commercial, and changed the channel for the duration.)

Incidentally, I actually like most of the songs I’m suggesting (e.g., Ministry, Leonard Cohen). I just think they’d do the best job at killing the positive mellow buzz. That said, I forgot to submit the following. This falls in the “dark and depressing” category since most people associate it with emotionally devastating scenes in movies and national tragedies.

Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings, op. 11- conducted by Leonard Bernstein.

Whenever this question comes up, and it seems to often enough, I always suggest bagpipes.

Now, I like bagpipes enough, but I will be the first to admit I don’t have popular tastes. On top of that, there’s two other reasons I recommend it. For one, it’s mostly high register. You won’t be wasting any of your watts trying to pump soothing bass. It’s all raspy high end drone that’s easy for your speakers to blast out at high volume. You might actually hit the volume of acoustic bagpipes if you’re not careful. Related to that, since it’s high register, it’s pretty directional sound compared to bass, which generally radiates out in all directions. So, you’re able to more accurately aim all of your watts in the direction of your enemies.

And again, I like bagpipes. Lots of other people seem angered when they are in their vicinity.

If they are actual stoners, I can’t argue against It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n Roll) strongly enough - not nearly enough bagpipes in the mix.

Is Rupert one of the People That You Never Get to Love?

In that vein.

*actually, I find the song relaxing, so it might have the opposite effect of what’s intended.

I had a different Zappa track in mind – “I Come From Nowhere”

This one is depressing, dark, and disturbing. I guarantee your neighbors will seek counseling immediately after listening to it.

Suicide - “Frankie Teardrop

It’s especially annoying with the visuals, though. I don’t know how it will work without the visuals.

Florence Foster Jenkins (really bad opera singer.)
Though for people who are high, they just might find it funnier.
