I discovered a fairly recent song last week called “Oh My Love” by Sophia.
the lyrics go like this:
'Cause I been waiting
For such a long time
Your love is still
Fresh in my mind
And oh my love though I wait
Can’t you see
I can’t wait forever for you
to say you love me
I like the song quite a bit, and part of that is because it reminds me of another song I’ve liked much longer “Only For So Long” by Dishwalla.
I don’t need a clock to know it’s wasted time
What’s your mood ring doing now?
Tell me if you want me near
And I’ll play along
Tell me what you love to fear
And I’ll play along
But only for so long
There have to be more songs about someone realizing that they should soon give up on someone. Can anyone recommend some?
Róisín Murphy and Mark Brydon of the trip hop duo Moloko from Sheffield.
They have since broken up musically and as Lovers. Their songs as Moloko are love letters to one another, lyrically and musically. Her new album is a subtle fuck you, I’m the voice of this music that you showed me (I still love you, though.) It’s bitter and pointed, scorned and loving, soulful and real. Pretty sad actually. I think it is one of the more interesting discographies out there. Muses.
