Unfair by Josh Kelley is pretty good for a new song :).
You Say You Don’t Love Me
and
Ever Fallen In Love?
by the wonderful Buzzcocks
Code Monkey by Jonathan Coulton (link is to mp3)
It Hurts to be in Love- Gene Pitney
Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover by Sophie Hawkins.
Have you all forgotten Jessie’s Girl by Rick Springfield?
I got a bunch of these off my iPod, and thought of a few more, mostly because I spent a good chunk of my life in various states of unrequited love and some of these are the songs I listened to:
**Beautiful **by James Blunt
**Eternal Flame **by the Bangles
These Words by Natasha Bedingfield (though it’s unrequited mostly because she can’t bring herself to express it)
If I Was Your Woman by Gladys Knight and the Pips
You’re So Damn Hot by OK Go
In My Eyes by Stevie B
Hooked on You by Sweet Sensation
They’re Playing our Song by Trinere - “So far you’ve danced with every girl but me…”
Time After Time by Timmy T -why, yes, I like 80’s freestyle dance music, do you have a problem with that?
To Bring You My Love and Send His Love To Me by PJ Harvey - I think these songs go together, and not just 'cause they’re on the same album.
Wicked Game by Chris Isaak -
What a wicked thing to say
You never felt this way…
Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You) by A Flock of Seagulls
Now by Edie Brickell and New Bohemians
The Flame by Cheap Trick
#1 Crush by Garbage
Lovefool by the Cardigans
Bump.
I guess no one else has ever been smitten with someone who didn’t like you back…and you never had to listen to sad, depressing songs to get over it. Well good for you!
**Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad ** by Meatloaf.
I want you.
I need you,
But there ain’t no way,
I’m ever going to love you.
Now don’t be sad…
Cause two out of three ain’t bad
There’s always Love, Unrequited, Robs Me of My Rest from Iolanthe Lyrics
“She’s So High Above Me,” by Everclear.
…cause I’ve done
everything I know
to try and make you mine
and I think I’m going to love you for a
long, long time.
-- Linda Ronstadt
Who The F… Is Alice?, Dr. Hook
In jest I wrote a little ditty. Here are some of the lyrics
Met a nice lady on the internet.
She lives several states away
Sent me a picture that was several years old
Now we chat every day
There’s a woman at work
and I’m sure that there’s some chemistry
the way we make each other smile
But she’s married with kids
so that ain’t going anywhere
except to lunch once in a while
[chorus} When people call me unlucky at love
I just smile and say
I prefer love unrequited
It’s much easier that way
[bridge;] Oooooo the sweet sweet feeling of thinking it might be love
Ahhhhhh is often better than knowing the reality of.
When people call me unlucky at love
I just smile and say
I prefer love unrequited
it’s much easier that way.
and that’s my humble offering to unrequited love songs.
Oh, I’ ve done it. When I found out my college crush had a girlfriend, I went home and played Olivia Newton John’s, I Honestly Love You until I bawled. Talk about making a depression even worse! I did learn one thing from that would-be relationship, though. If you’re going to find out you don’t have a choice, having a nasty case of flu with a fairly high fever does dull the initial pain.
On My Own from Les Miserables. Absolutely stunning
On my own
Pretending he is beside me
All alone
I walk with him 'til morning
Without him, I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way, I close my eyes and he has found me
In the rain
The pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever
I like Lonesome Loser by the Little River Band. The guy’s life seems to be one long string of unrequited loves.
No, but we’re trying to, really hard.
