Songs you don't want to admit you enjoy

Mine is kind of an obscure one at this point in history, but I still fucking groove to “Like a Sunday In Salem” by Gene Cotton.

I was 5 when it came out.

I was sure you’d rather rock down to… .

With apologies to Joan Jett:

I hate myself for loving this song,
got a good beat and just four minutes long,
I love the music but the words are so wrong
That’s why I hate myself for loving this song

Thank you, SunUp. That was good.

That’s for sure! It was a breakthrough in recording technique and required a huge number of sessions to get it right. It got a lot of praise from critics and musicians.

I have to nominate “I Wanna Be A Cowboy” by Boys Don’t Cry. Just goofy fun. Yippee yippee yie, yippy yie yo yo!

Theme from a Summer Place, Percy Faith Orchestra.

But mainly I enjoy listening to it in the car while driving across a dry landscape. Reminds me of childhood family trips.

Slightly more modern: Euro-Trash Girl, Cracker. Track 69 on the Kerosene Hat CD. It’s like they didn’t want to give it much PR. OTOH, it was released as a single and did kinda okay.

Of course, there’s I Hate Everyone, Get Set Go. A good tune to sing along with when you’re in a certain mood.

Love Theme From a Summer Place. I almost watched the movie once but chickened out at the last minute.

I didn’t know the name of mine until a few years ago but it was on an exercise record my mom played every day so it’s been going through my head for almost 60 years.

And if you need something more mainstream pop, I guess there’s always This Guy’s in Love with You by the Tijuana Brass

Good pick.
There was an answer song done to the same tune: I Wanna Be a Cow, with mooing.
