Hymns, especially ones like “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” and “And Can It Be”.
A lot of CCR tracks are great drivin’ & singin’ songs:
Fortunate Son
Up Around The Bend
Born On The Bayou
Travelin’ Band
Down On The Corner
Commotion
Green River
Hey Tonight
Lookin’ Out My Back Door
…etc.
Good call!
Currently for me it’s “Do it with a Rockstar” by Amanda Palmer.
Just don’t stop to help anyone load a chair into their van!

“Sister Christian”, Night Ranger. Just the chorus tho.
I haven’t owned a car in over 20 years and have only driven a handful of times since then (other people’s cars on visits) but I used to drive both cars and semis for a living, and Kate Bush’s album The Dreaming was always my favorite to sing along to full belt, especially
All that time alone made me know that I can’t sing for shit*, but it sure was fun screaming “GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!” and I do a mean donkey too “HEEE HAAAWW HEEE HAAAAAW HEE HAW HEE HAW HEE HAW!”
- I also discovered I can’t scream. I spent hours and hours trying and could never manage more than a squeak.
Steve Vai’s “For The Love Of God”
Joe Satriani’s “Surfing With The Alien”
The Mario theme song
Ynwgwie’s “Far Beyond The Sun”
Spacehog’s “In The Meantime”
“Santa Monica” – Everclear
“I Believe in a Thing Called Love” – The Darkness
“Paris (Ooh La La)” – Grace Potter and The Nocturnals
Anything by Foo Fighters, but especially “New Way Home,” “Long Road to Ruin,” and “Arlandria”
A few more:
Traveling Wilburys - Handle with Care
Patti Smith - Because the Night
Rod Stewart - Every Picture Tells a Story
The Doors - Roadhouse Blues
Elvis Costello - Pump It Up
mmm
Do you hate the fucking Eagles, man?
I suppose I’m being whooshed here but, um… No?
Do you have to hate the Eagles to like CCR?
I think it’s a Big Lebowski reference. Search yootoob for “Big Lebowski Eagles”
Oh. Okay, then.
Bingo. Oh, and 500 Miles (I’m Gonna Be).
Heh. Good one, but reminds of the girl singing along on the way to her doom in Silence of the Lambs.
Not singing along, just cranked up to full volume, Megadeth’s Hangar 18, the long version.
(Dave Mustaine is an idiot, by the way, I freely admit that.)
Far too many to list, but I do have a recent favorite. The viral video of the Polish Les Mis cast flash-mobbing a mall with One Day More inspired me to buy their production’s soundtrack.
People are really confused when you pull up next to them at a stoplight belting out Słuchaj Kiedy Spiewa Lud at them.
First off, thank you for the laugh, and the very cute paramedics who arrived on scene when my family couldn’t figure out WHY I was rolling on the floor gasping for air after reading this. Second thank you for the warning, I will never drive with my cell phone in my pocket again. Cannot risk having my boss, or people I work with, or my son’s school hear me belting out “Me and My Arrow” by Harry Nilsson at full volume.
Edited to add my family pointed out that for the last two weeks anyone butt dialed would be hearing me sing “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” by Wings. Oh the shame.
Ooooh I like this.
Death O Death—Ralph Stanley. It gives me a chance to holler.
Faithless Love by Linda Rondstatt.
Somebody that I used to know- Gotye
Honky Tonk Women- The Rolling Stones
Gimme Shelter-the Rolling Stones
Pink-Try
Thunderstruck-AC/DC, oh hell, practically anything by AC/DC
Money for Nothing-Dire Straits, despite the fact I am a chick
That’s just a few. I sing along to the radio and my iPod since I spend so much time driving each week for my work.
