You bet! I just wish I liked the song “TMB” more.

I tend to sing them myself, not listening to the originals. And I find depressing songs to cheer me up. Such as:
The Grisely Bride - traditional
I Hold Your Hand in Mine, Poisoning Pigeons in the Park, The Hunting Song, and (of course) The Masochism Tango - all by Tom Lehrer
John Cook - Schooner Fare
The Queen and the Soldier - Suzanne Vega
A more humane Mikado never did in Japan exist - from The Mikado, by Gilbert and Sullivan (Though this isn’t really depressing. Just very cruel sounding. Especially when one adds the laughter…)
“Sympathy for the Devil”, either the Rollings Stones original, or the Guns and Roses cover.
Anything by AC-DC
“Mars, Bringer of War” - pretty much any bombastic classical you could send the tanks rolling to, for that matter.
“Sweet Dreams” - the Eurythmics.
Yeah, I’m a pretty odd sort.
Thats The Way (The World Goes Round) - John Prine
Blue Umbrela - John Prine…Yeah I’m a hardcore Prine fan. But there’s another good one I know I’m not sure of the singer/songwriter bbut I’m pretty sure it’s called Saturday in The Park…I’m sure I’ll look stupid for posting that…as Im thinking someone very famous sang it.

The furious, indignant, and cathartic:
“Slack Motherf*#%er” – Wire
“Wake Up” – XTC
“U Mass” – Pixies
“Voidy Numbness” – The The
“Loveless Love” – The Feelies
etc. etc., ad aneurysm…
The more conventionally upbeat (or just silly):
“The Book I Read” – Talking Heads
“My Best Friend” – Jellyfish
“Rich Kind of Poverty” – Sam & Dave
“Octopus’ Garden” – The Beatles
“The Wait,” “Watching the Clothes” – The Pretenders
“A Spy in the House of Love” – The dB’s
“Beep” – Pylon
“Strobe Light” – The B-52’s
“Love Rollercoaster” – The Ohio Players
“Here Comes Your Man” – Pixies
There are a few
- Sweet Child O Mine - Guns N Roses
- The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
- Angel Is A Centrefold - J Geils Band
- Are You Gonna Go My Way- Lenny Kravitz
- Whats Up! - 4 Non Blondes
Yep, weird and wacky brain of mine…
Let me check my “relentlessly happy” playlist on iTunes…
Cartoon Heroes – Aqua
Linus and Lucy with the Band – Vince Guaraldi
This Old House – The Brian Setzer Orchestra
Silk Pajamas – Thomas Dolby
Congratulations! – Goddess Family Club (from the Aa! Megamisama! soundtrack)
Tenshi no E no Gu – Mari Iijima (from the SDF Macross movie – Mari Iijima was the voice of Lynn Minmay)
Hale Bopp – JPP (Järvelän Pikkupelimanni)
trust you [2002 New Arrange Version] – Megumi Hayashibara
Sesame Street theme – Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra
Denwa shite darling – Yuki Ishii (from Aa! Megamisama!)
Because We Can – Fatboy Slim
Tonari no Totoro – Azumi Inoue
Beethoven Day – You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown
I Love Being Here With You – Diana Krall, Live In Paris
(there’s more, but that’s enough for now…)
I highly recommend the music of Megumi Hayashibara. (If you’ve ever heard of her, it’s probably from when she did the voice of girl-type Ranma in the anime series Ranma 1/2.)
It never did me much personal good, but I have great success helping other people who have just suffered a personal (usually relationship) loss. I call them up on the phone and play Frank Zappa’s “Broken Hearts Are For Assholes” at them until they laugh.
It doesn’t take long, since an alarmingly large number of people know it might happen if I find out something like that happened to them.
That would, of course, be “Slack Motherf*#%er” by Superchunk.
:smack: :smack: :smack:
If it’s the one I’m thinking of:
it was done by Chicago. Yeah, they’re sorta famous.
If it’s a different song, I have no idea.
The current UK number one is a re-release by Tony Christie. Makes me grin.
Okay, I’m going to admit this and then you can spend the rest of your life either avoiding me like the plague or arranging for my eventual institutionalization.
Daybreak by Barry Manilow
Circles, especially the live version, or Soft Serve by Soul Coughing.
And Ship of Gold by Clutch, if you want the yelling kind of happiness.

I second Cartoon Heroes by Aqua, and add Barbie Girl. I can’t help but dance in my car when I play that.
Also:
Snapshot and Party Train by RuPaul.
Love the Way You Love Me by Faith Hill
Pretty much the entirety of Shania Twain’s Up! CD.
pavement’s “stereo”
come on, how can you not laugh at SM making fun of how geddy lee talks? and the whole “my babybabybabybabybabybabybay gave me MALARIA!!! HYSTERIA!!!” stuff is priceless.
“once around the block” by badly drawn boy cheers me up as well. that’s a great song.
and sun kil moon’s “lilly and parrots”. it just has a happy feel and lyrics to it.
Whenever I feel down, I just watch this.
Spam by Weird Al Yankovic never fails to make me laugh.
Mangetsu no Shiwaza from the Mamono Hunter Yohko soundtrack.
I second Strauss.
But for the ultimate in feel good tunes try Italian Polka by Rachmaninov. Always makes me smile.
Lessie…
