This is bad. Really, really bad. Will was always a bit of a control freak on his show. His top gunsmith quit from the verbal abuse.
No idea he’d do something like this. He was originally arrested on suspicion of child molestation and bonded out the next day. They upgraded it to Child Rape charges after interviewing the girl. Plus they are saying he was a fugitive that had left his own Perish while on bond from the original arrest.
That will be the end of his gun shop. No way in hell that he can go near all those weapons now. Maybe his adult daughter and his husband can run the shop. <shrug> Right now, I’d say there’s zero chance another season of Sons of Guns will air. This is as bad a charge as it gets.
There’s always a chance he’ll be acquitted. The original molestation arrest came from statements his Ex wife made to police. Now they are saying the kid is accusing him of raping her.
I’d stopped watching the show a year or two back because the guy was such a colossal dick.
Have not read enough (or cared enough) to dig into how real this is or how much is his ex-wife trying to ruin him. But such things are the Nuclear Weapons of our modern society, and even if he’s acquitted, he’s already damaged by it. If he’s guilty, then he deserves every bad thing headed his way.
I’ve seen complaints in the gun forums about Red Jacket back orders not getting filled. People had their deposits tied up and were pretty upset with the company.
The reviews on Yelp say a lot about this company. It may have once been a good gun shop but their Reality Show ruined it.
Never a clue he’d do something this low to his own kid.
I think Vince Buckles held the FFL’s. It was always weird the way Will ordered him around, because I “think” Vince had a stake in Red Jacket.
After he quit, I think Charlie Watson got the FFL’s and became a partner in Red Jacket. Will started treating him like crap too.
I keep saying I’ll drop by Vince’s new shop. He’s a good gun smith and I need some work done on a Ruger 22 that jams quite a bit. My hometown is 20 miles from the Louisiana border. I go to Shreveport fairly often.
‘Her’ husband strikes me as an even bigger idiot than Will. I too had read about a number of complaints piling up against the shop, missing permits for sales, etc. It’s over for RJ.
Will was stripped of his FFL after ATF audited Red Jacket and found some gun parts missing. Everything has to be accounted for. The receivers, barrels etc. Anything that can be assembled into a gun. This was before the reality show. Since then someone else has to hold the FFL’s in their name. I’m not sure, but don’t they have to own a stake in the company to get those FFL’s for Red Jacket?
This was on the AR-15 forum since 2011. They are quoting Vince’s facebook post after he quit. Other news sources picked up the story about the ATF audit too.
You know, I’m not a fan of the show and, of course I abhor child molestation, but I hate how allegations can ruin someone’s life. We have no idea if there’s any case here and yet his show has been cancelled and his company has separated from him.
For his sake, I hope he’s innocent and can find a way to move on.
I tolerated the first couple of seasons of this show, but Will’s constant mistreatment of basically everyone he had any authority over got to be too mcuh. At the time, I figured he was just a regular garden-variety jerk, and possibly playing it up for TV. Guess not.
I’ll join you in that, phreesh, just on general principle (although, my hope has more to do with wanting it to be true that the little girl was not raped*).
That said, reality television is HORRIBLE, sui generis, and anything that makes any part of it go away cannot be said to be ALL bad.
*My feelings about her having made an accusation are somewhat more complicated.
If you’re referring to Casey Rayborn-Hicks (the name listed in the excerpt quoted in the OP), she’s the spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, not the alleged victim.
