I think the fact that he realized he wasn’t going to get Tony to see it his way when it came to the Tailors, was a smart move. He may still disagree, but he’s finally learning when to shut his yap.
I love the show, I only get HBO when the Sopranos are on. But I don’t root for Tony, Carmela or really any of the crew. The only character I kind of root for is Silvio, he is a little nicer and a little smarter than almost anyone else on the show. Even Meadow gets too annoying to like despite being the smartest one on the show.
Just don’t go for a ride through the woods with him!
That was family business and nothing personnel.
I know he is a cold hearted killer, but thus far he treats his wife well, He knows what he is and who he is. I am not saying I want to do business with him or hang with him but for some reason, Silvio is the one character I like.

I like Silvio too. It seems like the Adrianna hit was meant to shake you up about the character. It was always said that Sil was a hitman as well as Tony’s number 2, but I don’t think we had ever seen him actually perform a hit (Big Pussy’s gang bang killing aside) until the trip to the woods.
Does Sil have a mistress? I think he’s the only one we haven’t seen with another woman. Hell, Vito had one just for show. Maybe with Sil, its like a gynocologist, he’s around trim all day so he doesn’t necessarily need more of it outside of there.
I thought that the point of Chrissy’s change of mind was to show that Melfi’s strategy worked.
In the episode where Bobby’s wife died, the other wives were all sitting around talking at one point. It was Sil’s wife who made a comment to the effect that Bobby was the only one of all of them without a gal on the side.
Hmmm, I hadn’t thought of it that way. Perhaps you’re right. I dunno.
I agree with your take on Chris here.
And your observation about the goomar issue with Sil is just one of those little things that make this series so fascinating. My wife and I have already taped all the earlier episodes through Season 4. (We have TiVo now so we’re not taping this season yet.) But in order to access the commentary and side features, we’re thinking about letting Netflix treat us to the DVD’s and spend however long it may take (three solid days if we went that route) to go through all of them. In such an exercise it would be a fun task to make note of all hanging issues and unresolved plot points. My suspicion (gut feeling more like) is that the ones that aren’t yet resolved will be before it’s all said and done. I even visualize the writing sessions being involved with a lot of backtracking and looking for weak spots.
Elsewhere I mentioned (and had some feedback on) the one boo-boo we have noticed in doing flashbacks via tape. The issue of Livia’s house being sold in Season 1 and than back in her hands (Tony’s really) in Season 2 so that Janice would have something to tamper with was the only flagrant violation of what has otherwise seemed to be a very tight writing outline.
The fact that somebody (in this case hajario) can look back to an old episode and find in the chitchat the answer to a question regarding Sil’s lack of a goomar, is evidence to me that this team does all in its power 99% of the time not to step on their own toes.
Can anybody name another show that ran over three seasons with this kind of tightness of plot? It’s almost like Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes mythos as far as I’m concerned.
I know Christopher Walken’s wife was a casting director for the show but I noticed on Sunday that she was credited with a role called “Local woman”.
I don’t believe I know what she looks like but I was thinking it might be the B&B lady who gave Vito his room in New Hampshire.
Can anyone confirm this?
I can just confirm that that’s the same conclusion we came to after tracking back through the credits for any other reference to “B&B lady” and finding none. She seemed quite competent as an actress and the sort of gal who would fit well with Christopher. I’d like independent confirmation, too, as I have never knowingly seen Georgianne on screen.
Seeing another Bracco (as Vito’s wife) was a bit of a curiosity point as well. Somebody upthread insinuated that she’s Lorraine’s sister. I suspected as much but haven’t verified it through IMDB or elsewhere.
Did anybody ever decide if the Van Zandt playing the corpulent daughter to Johnny Sack is from the Little Stevie family?
I think the woman who owned the B&B was the creepy teacher/snake in the X-Files episode called “Die Hand Die Verletzt”. The cool thing is that the X-Files episode took place in a small town in New Hampshire.
If I’m thinking of the right actress, her name is Susan Blommaert.
I meant to include this.
Picture of Georgianne Walken.
Regretfully no, I posed the question last week, but know one knew.
This site says yes, but I don’t how reliable it is.
Do a search on the page for Caitlin and you’ll find the poster who says it is his daughter.
That is correct. She’s played a judge many times on “Law and Order”.
IMDB doesn’t include Caitlin Van Zandt in the biographical pages of either Steven or Maureen (Gabriella). Caitlin’s page doesn’t have an active bio page available. The mystery continues.
I don’t trust it fully as when I was searching I found posts that said she wasn’t. I was hoping that a newspaper, IMDB or the official Soprano’s site would verify it.
Jim
I’ve exhausted my googling skills in trying to find a proven connection. Seeing that there are already 2 Van Zants in the cast, and they’re related, I’d say this one is as well. It’s not an extremely common name.
I agree. I think my origianl question was if she was a daughter, sister or niece? I would have to check last weeks Soprano’s thread. I even searched the Little Steven Site and message board.
So if it wasn’t B&B lady, who was she?
There was a blond lady in the diner with her hair up kind of like in the picture Honey linked to, but she didn’t even face the camera as far as I could tell.
This is driving me nuts. (so is the Van Zandt thing)
