There are several places on the web selling what they describe as pistol grips as seen on Eddie “The Comedian” Blake’s pistols in the Watchmen movie. What a crock. The gripsthese people are selling are checkered aluminum and have a smiley face complete with blood splatter.
An accurate set should have an unmarred smiley and be inscribed “To Edward Blake With Gratitude.”
I’ve got an extra .45 laying around that I’ve got a hankering to dress up with a long slide and “authentic” Comedian grips. Anybody know of a source?
I suspect you are running into copyright/trademark type issues. Anyone can slap a smiley face on the side of a pistol. The guy who created the smiley face (Harvey Ball) never copyrighted it, so anyone can use it. The Comedian’s pistol though says “To Edward Blake” (above the smiley) “With Gratitude” (below) on one side, and “Richard Nixon” (above) “1970” (below) on the other side. Richard Nixon’s estate is probably going to have a conniption fit if you try to sell a pistol grip with his name on it, and the Edward Blake side would probably have to be licensed from whoever owns the rights to that character (which may be split between the movie studio and other people, could be a real nightmare to sort all of that out).
Your best bet may be to order simple smiley grips and have someone modify them for you. A gun shop that does custom work may also be willing to do the entire thing for you as a one-off.
No inscription, but no blood splatter either.

( I don’t know anything about guns. They are described as 1911 grips. I don’t know what that means, or if it will fit your gun. )
Those custom killer grips look like they might be a decent starting point for a more or less authentic looking set.
