Charleston would be fantastic!! I’m planning on being there the weekend of 11/10 (work-related thing the previous Thursday night), but it’s close enough that I can pretty much make it there anytime (weekends are better!).
Anyone free on the 10th or 11th? Any other time?

Nothing against the NC Dopers–I just noticed that y’all had a group on the pic pages and I hadn’t seen anything about SC. Personally, I’ll be in Gainseville on 11/11 watching the Cocks take the SEC, provided Petty can keep from getting hurt again.
Got my doctorate at USC-Columbia; met my wife there - she got her BS and MS degrees there.
We moved out of state 7 years ago, but seeing South Carolina in a thread, I had to stick my nose in.
stofsky, my favorite buffalo wings place used to be in a little hole in the wall on Rosewood. (Then they moved to Five Points, got yuppified, and toned down the spices. C’est la vie.)
And Charleston is a wonderful city, with lots of terrific restaurants. I could probably talk my wife into a trip down there sometime, though I don’t think it’ll be before the end of the year…
stofsky - if that weekend’s not good for you, I’m flexible. Charleston’s only 90 miles from me, so it’s easy to get to. If anyone else wants to suggest a date, I’m game.
My schedule pretty well rules out any road trips until early December, unfortunately, but then again I’m just the instigator not the center of the party so plan amongst yourselves. Subject: where and when. However if anyone in Columbia would like to get together for a drink or something, I’m good there. I can sneak away from grading papers and family stuff for a few hours. Did I mention that I taught English 101 to Phil Petty and Kevin House and 102 to Mikal Goodman? Get me drunk and I’ll tell you how smart they are
