-Chicken fried steak w/ gravy
-Black eyed peas, Collards, Fried okra (though in real life I’m more likely to order the fried okra, fried corn on the cob, and boiled cabbage, but you didn’t give the latter two as options)
-Rolls (wheat)
-Banana pudding
-Tea (no sugar)
I’ll have pork chops with collards, fried okra, and creamed corn. One biscuit, one piece of cornbread. Lemon meringue pie. Wash it all down with a big ol’ pitcher of tea.
Pork Chops
Rice 'n gravy
Pinto beans 'n ham
Sweet potatoes

Tea … unsweetened … and that means no sugar … just tea and water … but no sugar at all … do you understand? … just make it a pepsi
Chicken-fried steak
Creamed corn
Creamed potatoes
Sweet potatoes
Tea (I know better than to ask)
Half a slice of chocolate meringue pie and a couple spoonfuls of banana pudding on the same plate.
Fried Chicken

fried okra
cold-water cornbread

Coke (not Pepsi, you blasphemer!)
We’ve got a meat-n-three not too far from work. They’ve been voted “Best Soul/Southern Food” for a couple years in a row. I’ve only been there once for lunch, and I could have really hurt myself eating everything. I took fully half of my meal home, and hubby was more than happy to take care of it!
Country fried steak with white gravy
Mashed potatoes
Green beans & corn
Stewed tomatoes
A biscuit, with some of the white gravy on top
A slice of cornbread
Lemon meringue pie (although I’m partial to Key Lime)
No Pepsi… Coke.
I grew up in a tiny little town that I swear had a restaurant with the best Southern-style cooking ever. I always talk someone into going there with me when I make it back into town. Time for a visit, I think!
Well, poo. If I had my druthers, I’d have fried catfish with slaw, green tomato pickles, and cornbread… rhubarb crumble and ice tea to wash it down. Unsweet.
Pork chops, unless you’ve got some of that smoked salt-cured country ham lying around.
Can I have purple-hull peas or chowder peas or butterpeas instead of blackeyes?
That okra is cut ncie & thin and rolled in cornmeal before it’s fried, yes?
I’ll finish up with a square of that cornbread, if you’ve got some buttermilk for me to crumble it up in.
And iced tea. Very strong and very sweet.
