What a great cop show. From radio chatter to cop to cop banter, they got it down. A good representation of just what it’s like to be a cop out here in L.A. L.A.P.D. The toughest hardnosed policeforce in the nation.
I like Southland, and am glad it was picked up by another network after being cancelled.
Looking forward to the new season.
It is, however, “Shield-lite”…but quite happy to see that style of storytelling alive and well. If you are going to copy a format, it might as well be from a truly great show.
Shield Lite? Oh like “The Shield” LIte. Yeah, Good call. They really are good at presenting the storyline.
I think it reaches back earlier than the Shield, to Joseph Wambaugh’s old stock company: the sensitive, tragic cop, the heroic hardass, the goofball, etc.
It sure does have Wambaugh written all over it. Yeah the character “Cooper” suffers in silence with his ailing back pain. And the all too loyal “boot” at his side compensating for that back pain while enduring Cooper’s condescending training methods
.
I saw some of it when in the U.S. and loved it, but they’re not showing it in the U.K. (Well not on the Cable channels I’ve got )
I’ve been enjoying it too.
Does anyone know when the next season starts?
Apparently they’ve just announced Lucy Liu will be appearing in Season 4, set to begin in January 2012.
I think cops from all over the world should train in L.A. If they could handle that, they could handle anything.
