Spanish Football: Slang Terminology.

In my newspaper yesterday, I learned that the Spanish term for lobbing the goalkeeper is a vaselina.

This word translates as vaseline in my (small) Spanish/English dictionary. Does anybody know why the word vaselina should be applied to a lob?

Because it is a sneaky (slippery/slimey) thing to do, rather than take the direct route for a shot???

Because the keeper invariably slips up in his/her attempt to get back to cover the lob???

 just guessing…
