Nobody will ever say anything worse about Kate than what’s been said about Pete. I managed somehow to survive.
You lucky bastid.
*“The good thing about them is that you can look at them with the sound turned down.” *- George Harrison on the Spice Girls while having a “kids get off my lawn” moment (Oasis and U2 got ripped in the same interview), 1997.
Indeed, although any performance will probably look more like this.
Hopefully choosing it will keep those morons at NBC from cutting away from the song. It was Top 30 in the US.
I’ve never seen that Gilmour/Bush clip before…thanks for the link!
Surely they will close with this.
As he discovered her, Dave is one of the few people who can call in a favor from Kate. And vis versa.
My how they’ve aged. They’re already having to use giant walkers.
Poor girls.
You’ve heard of Blur and Parklife, right …
I just hope to God there is not much stadium rawk bollock, and that it does strike a balance between ‘Britishness’ and something accessible to ‘the whole family’. No I don’t, really: fuck the family.
I also hope they stop Adele wailing on and on about her ex - of which I am a little more optimistic now she’s up the duff by someone else.
Lots of background info, as well as plenty of clues in this article:
Swingin’ London, mate. Looks like fun.
3 hours and 4000 performers? Wow, that’s some kind of closing party.
There should be something for everyone in this set list.
I’m posting at 6:54 London time. 2 hours to go there. It’s only 12:54 my time.
The arrival of Kate Bush may well set off my allergies for a few moments …
Slightly tricky now for Adele; how do you keep wailing on endlessly about your ex when you’re now properly up the duff by someone else … modern Britain, I suppose: Danny Boyle wold be able to explain it, probably with live dinosaurs and a tribe of Mongolian throat singers.
Overall, I wouldn’t get too excited about the sets - they’ve only had 24 hours to prepare the stadium. Plus some of the music will be London-cenric and it doesn’t all travel well.
Hopefully it’ll be fun.
And the only rehearsals actually in the stadium have been today - eeek. But yes, it should be a laugh, and I always think the closing ceremony is more for the all-mixed-together athletes to jump around like loons.
From what I understand, they had a duplicate facility in a Ford factory in Dagenham.
Song yes, but no Kate (yet) ![]()
More like Mel DD. Holy crap.
Yeah, “scary” in a whole different way ![]()
Old Spice looks like she bought herself a pair as well.
