Here.
I’m kinda excited about this. I liked the Tobey ones (the first two) and didn’t watch the newest. I liked Spider Man in Civil War.
The Amazing Spider-Man movies were total garbage.
I do appreciate they’re not starting over from the very beginning with him, because I really don’t need to see that shit again.
My only other comment would be the webbing on his costume seemed to not pop enough, but that’s probably due to watching it on YouTube. I don’t remember having that problem in Civil War.
I think you’re America.
He sounds like he’s talking through a mask. Yes, I realize that’s what he’s actually doing, but his voice sounded really muffled or distorted or something. His voice is also SUPER squeaky. I certainly hope that’s not in the whole movie cuz that’ll drive me nuts.
“That’s not a hug, I’m just getting the door for you” HA!
He’s umm…playing a squeaky-voiced 15 year old talking through a mask.
Clearly I remain out-of-the-loop. I thought they the appearance of Spider-Man in the MCU was a one-off thing because Sony Pictures had the rights to Spider-Man and Marvel itself was putting out movies based on its other non-mutant properties. Now Sony is putting out a Spider-Man picture integrated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Is the appearance of the MCU another one-off? Is this in continuity with the MCU?
Sony made a deal with Marvel Studios. Sony owns the distribution rights for Spider-Man movies, Marvel makes the movies and can use Spider-Man in MCU movies. Currently, Tom Holland is signed on to do three Spider-Man movies and three MCU movies (one of which was Civil War).
Sony and Marvel made a deal in which they basically split custody. Originally Marvel wanted to buy the rights back, but they struck a deal where Marvel will not take a cut of the box office from any Sony film in which Spider-Man appears, and vice versa.
Again, I realize this.
What I’m saying is that it’s going to get annoying to listen to for an hour plus. I would much rather have a clear VO everytime he’s in the mask and be able to hear it than have the realism of speaking through a mask and have it muffled.
Basd on te trailer alone - its clearly part of the MCU, etc.
This looks Amazing, Spectacular even.
I hope you can endure it because that appears to be the way it’s going to be done.
The 2012 Spider-Man movie included a bit about some mystery involving Peter’s father and suggested he might still be alive. Is this movie going to continue with that?
I think they’re doing a full reboot.
No, I don’t believe so.
Except it looks like we’re skipping the whole origin story; teenager gets bitten by radioactive spider, acquires weird powers, learns to control them, creates skintight suit to disguise identity.

It’s been done twice already in 15 years, everyone knows it. They might do a flashback though.

I’m hoping they just do it like “The Incredible Hulk,” where the whole origin is condensed down to the opening credits.
We don’t need to see flashback at all, I think, just like we don’t need to see poor Thomas and Martha Wayne get murdered in front of Bruce every frickin’ Batman movie.

It would be weird though. I would expect Uncle Ben to be frikkin’ Jon Hamm given that Aunt May is Marisa Tomei.
I liked the use of MGMT’s Time to Pretend. Given that they have stated that, with this reboot, they are looking to overlay the character with a John Hughes movie, that is a reasonable choice For an updated Hughes-type soundtrack. Same with the geeks watching the girl scene. By the way, who’s the sidekick who learns what’s going on? Has he existed in the comics world?
As Marvel has demonstrated, they are good at delivering well-crafted movies that navigate all the needs of fanboys and international markets alike. I’ll see it in the theater.

He’s Ned Leeds (I think) in the movie, but the character is mostly a riff off of Ganke, a Miles Morales character from Ultimate Spider-Man.
